It's obviously not something he should get suspended over, BUT the league SHOULD call him up and be like STOP THIS SHIT MOTHER FUCKER, and then announce that they will start talking about how to discipline the nut shots and hand slashes and other dirty shit players get away with.

Not suspension-worthy but should have been a fine and the league should be telling officials to fucking watch for this bullshit. It's the second player this season to have a finger completely obliterated by something that is totally preventable. It should have been a 5 minute major and a game misconduct (as all plays that result in serious injury are, as per the rulebook). Instead Ottawa got a double minor AND got scored on.

On the surface, it's a 2-min slashing penalty with an unfortunate result. Not a huge fan of Sid, but he was never going to get a suspension; fine was in the realm of possibility just for the league to save face and say they did something.
