Yes, that was a great play by him, yes, the Caps didn't play it well, the deflection off the post and right to an Oiler was a bit lucky though. I also didn't specifically say that entire play or every goal was 100% lucky, I simply stated "lucky bounces" and I even stated McDavid changed the team. Feel free to nit pick though.
Personally, I think the "turn-around" so far, is more showing the difference between a "Generational talent" like McDavid, vs having several pretty good top end talents like Hall, RNH, Yak. Both Crosby and Ovi completely turned awful teams around very quickly when they arrived(both won their Divisions within 3 years, PIT was way better then the Caps the 2nd year when Malkin joined, while the Caps shot up the 3rd when Backstrom joined).
I think trading Hall was a mistake personally, I think they should have traded RNH, and put Draisaitl at #2C(who gets over looked because of how good McDavid is, 2G4A from their #3 Center already and definately playing better then RNH so far). They also have finally brought in solid players to fill out the roster, like Lucic, Maroon, Russel(better then what they had).
It's funny though how the whole "Why'd they trade Hall over RNH?" things happen. See the return we got for Yak? Imagine that, plus maybe a 10% off Vegemite coupon thrown in.
There were no other major offers for anyone else, that didn't include the #4 pick earlier in the summer. The Hall/McDavid combo didn't click well - since what works on NHL17 or on paper doesn't translate into actually working for real. Did we overpay for Larsson? Sure, but he's been solid so far, and the addition of Lucic (which I honestly doubt would've happened without the "You'll get #1 LW time on Connor's line." promise) has worked out so far. They still randomly get chasing in their own end, but finally things are starting to work offensively. There are 3 lines rolling instead of "If Ebs or Hall don't score, we're fucked."
Pretty sure the rumours of Hall being somewhat entitled are coming true now. Is he a good player? Yes, can't deny it. But was he happy in his role of "You've taken us nowhere for 6 years. This is Connor's team now."? Highly doubt it. I wish him the best in New Jersey, and I'm sure it's served as a wake-up call to the rest of the players of "Chiarelli doesn't give 2 fucks. He's traded Seguin and Hall, don't think you're untouchable."
Pastrnak having a hearing for hit against Girardi. I'm guessing a fine since it's first time and from the looks of it I don't think the head is the principle point of contact. Though it's debatable if he left his feet for the hit, one foot stayed on the ground.
Oh true enough, I guess the offers just weren't there. As much as people shit on Chiarelli around here at first over that deal, it was "OMG why isn't he doing anything?!?!" leading up to it. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't. I'm sure it's the same everywhere. Plus there's always the armchair GMs like "We should get Shattenkirk for Yak! We should get Subban for Ebs! Tyson Barrie is as good as ours!" type stuff, and it's not like teams are just lining up to trade away defense 24/7. Plus you have guys on TV like Kypreos leading up to the deadline or summer like "They need to move Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins and Yakupov. All 4 have done nothing but lose. Buncha losers. All they'll do is lose, all they know is losing!" which totally boosts all trade value I'm sure. lol
I don't think it was intentionally bad but Girardi was in a defenseless position.
I don't think he should get suspended but I do think he should get a stop that shit phonecall

Not going to even watch the LA game tonight; west coast B2B after losing 6-1 last night? Yeah, no.
In fairness to Hall, I'd probably be pissed if I led that tire fire of a team in scoring every year I was there and they turned around and said "well thanks for playing but we don't need you now."
I don't think they moved him because he was entitled or difficult. I think they moved him because he was the only forward they could trade straight up for a defenseman they desperately needed (and kind of still need). I don't understand how Draisaitl is still on the third line either. He should clearly have RNH's spot.
Have fun with Weber in three years
I think both teams have done well from the trade and I love Weber; he's having a monster year thus far and I'm super happy for him. I just hate the Habs fans that come to the NSH forum to antagonize us on HFB; it's six gd games into the season. This trade was made for the next ~5 years from Poile's perspective.
Griffith makes his Leaf debut tonight. Man that kid has some wheels.
That's probably the floatiest deflection I've ever seen but IT STILL COUNTS BITCHES
Pretty sure every single player in the league is thinking nothing but "top glove side" any time they even look at Andersen.
