While I don't enjoy FFXIV's gear getting basically invalidated every six months compared to FFXI where hard to obtain gear felt like more of an accomplishment, I *DO* appreciate FFXIV's willingness to try new things (even when they fail) compared to FFXI's "more of the same" approach.

If you are referring to Greased Lightning and Huton I'm pretty sure those already affected auto-attack speed.(?) Same with the Fairy spell that increases action speed. Unless I've been out of the loop neither job really prioritized Skill Speed as a secondary stat so I wouldn't really think this changes much, just makes it a slightly less shitty secondary.

Personally referring to MNK's white damage output and NIN getting more of its super frog/nuke/triple ninjutsu monster ninjustsu gauge filled over time since it fills by autoattacking.

fwiw, the faster AA speed also benefits PLD and Sword Oath, which now has the extra purpose of raising the Oath Gauge.

All searching I've done indicates that Greased Lightning and Huton always affected auto-attack speed. Anything that specified "Attack Speed" affected GCD delay and AA delay. If that changed at some point I can't find when but I distinctly remember from 50 era MNK and NIN that both made you attack faster and it would be weird to remove that functionality just to reinstate it later.
