OK. This is how press conferences work; The Pres comes to make a statement, the media come to listen. After everything is said and done, the Pres picks members of the media audience to ask questions.

Trump picked someone to ask a question and the CNN reporter shouted his selection down in order to try and get his own question in. You can't just shout at the President at the expense of other journalists desperately trying to get him to pick you next. Not everyone in the room gets question; and CNN doesn't deserve a question over any other outlet just for being CNN. If you actually watch the presser it's obvious who is in the wrong here.

So the implication here is that Trump is blocking media by lying that they don't have enough capacity. What utter hypocritical nonsense.

The reality is that they are at capacity, and actually, in an attempt to remedy the situation Trump wants to move pressers to another building - about 200ft from the White House - with a larger studio in order to get more reporters in. Funnily enough, this move seems to have sparked even more faux outrage by the media because it "would uproot decades of established protocol whereby journalists are allowed to work in the White House close to senior officials". I've yet to see a convincing argument for why this is necessary, or in fact why this applies to press conferences only.

Edit: After a quick Google it looks like in the last 24 hours Trump backpedalled on moving the press conference room across the street after backlash from the mainstream media. The obvious result of which will be that not every reporter that wants to cover the conference will be able to do so. Of course, the new headlines are implying that limited media access is the beginning of a fascist regime.

The White House Press corps would still be based out of the West Wing in the White House allowing journalists to work and report directly from the WH as has been the case forever. The only change would be that for the press conferences they would have to walk across the street.

As bad as Buzzfeed is, and as despite some of the information in the dossier either far-fetched or still unconfirmed (i.e. the whole golden shower thing), the majority of the information about Russia's hooks in Trump mentioned in the dossier has been confirmed as legitimate by at least three sources now, two of which are current/former British intel agents. Now if you want to continue to claim the entire thing is false go right ahead, but don't expect anyone here to take you seriously from this point on if you do.

If the "legit" journos are ignored while he calls on friendly faces to lob softballs, the WH press corps would be nearly neutered. There is enough space for ~50 people in there right now; I don't think adding a hundred more is going to fix the clusterfuck that happened at his first "press conference".
