Well party discipline (or the lack thereof for the Democrats) means there's less tolerance for housing demographics that are incompatible. So even if everyone left of "moderate right" agrees that the current iteration of the GOP is batshit, it's apparently not enough to tolerate working with each other when that requires any sort of sacrifice. Compare that to how the evangelicals held their nose and voted for Trump.

The only solution seems to be have Barack Obama at the top of the ticket, which isn't a great electoral strategy right now.

I'd say it's more like the security theater we put on at our airports, except on steroids. To be fair, they're doing it to everyone and not just Uyghurs. The fact that they're only doing it in the Xinjiang region says something though.

Not really surprising that China feels emboldened to do more shady things when America loses some of the international moral high ground. It's a regular fixture for China to stick to tu quoque arguments.

I'm actually kind of annoyed how timid Trudeau has been so far. He hasn't outright denounced anything relating to racism or sexism or bigotry or the alt-right or etc, etc. Just taking a safe "Canada is a welcoming, multicultural blah blah blah country" stance without putting his foot down on any major social issue.

In fact, recently media up here has been criticizing him for having private fund raising events with Chinese billionaires who days later made large donations to the Trudeau foundation. Basically criticizing him for having a "cash for access" approach which considering he's our PM, is shady as fuck.

He's been taking all these big PR photo moments to show he's a modern and cool Prime Minister and creating fandom among young people on social media but other than that, he's really done jack shit so far.

Actually she's more home schooling than charter schools, but they kinda go hand in hand. That's kinda at odds with the idea of supporting common core heh.
