As it turns out, it was also a manufactured hit job not only against Mello, but against Bernie too.

Mello isn't a leftist by any means. He's exactly the type of Democrat the centrist/business wing supports. There was simply bad info out there about one of his votes and shit spiraled quickly.

A number of people on this site yesterday were repeating the false claim that Mello favored forced ultrasounds and had co-sponsored a law requiring women to undergo ultrasounds. One source of this misinformation is VoteSmart. VoteSmart is usually a good source, but in this case they screwed up badly. On their page regarding the Nebraska law they give both the wrong title and the wrong summary. (Their summary claims the Nebraska law mandates women must have an ultrasound before having an abortion; the actual law says just the opposite.)  

It appears to me they accidentally took the text regarding a different state’s law and put that on the Nebraska page.

On May 12, CBS reported another class action lawsuit was filed against the DNC for stiffing dozens of field organizers all over the country for overtime work during the 2016 election while the DNC gave out $1 million in bonuses, including more than $300,000 to Democratic National Convention Host Committee Executive Director Kevin Washo.

At the same time, Washo was paid a salary by the consulting firm and received a monthly salary of $13,000 from the Democratic National Comittee. “We might have double-paid him. I’ll have to check into it. That’s interesting,” Rendell told the publication on May 12.
