I get the Kamala Harris criticisms, since the left has (rightfully) zero trust in democrats, but there is still a tiny part of me that wonders if it's maybe just a bit too early in her career to pile on her.

But, for the most part, brain parasite twitter putting donut emojis as a response to being out-corncobbed and out-rosed is absolute peak democrat.

i mean, the thing is, the criticism and pushback at an early stage like this is an opportunity for the candidate/party to realize 'hey, people want X and Y policies' and adapt their approach. the democrats' continued MO is to attempt to insulate their people from any criticism and insist that a lack of support for a given candidate, platform or policy is a failing of the public and not the party/politician. as long as they continue to operate with the mindset that it's still the 2016 primaries and the party's favored candidate needs to be protected at all costs, they're doomed to continue failing.

Harris' rise is kind of surprising since she doesn't come from any politically connected schools or organizations as far as I know. Interested to know how exactly she got scouted and vetted for AG. I can tell you her legal writing is quite good.

Harris is gonna get hit hard though. Both the fact she's getting a lot of donations from big groups and some of her actions as AG like not going after Steve Mnuchin.

2020 is a long ways off, but does anyone feel that unless Bernie runs again, left twitter is going to have a really hard time uniting behind anyone else and will kinda scatter to the winds as a political "force"?

Way too early. Obama was barely on anyone's radar 3 years out (yes, but certainly on some people's). Don't think anyone can claim the same position as him though.

I'm sure there will be some Berniecrat that will get some wind. Keith Ellison got a lot of wind from the left for his run for DNC chair. In all honestly its not too early to start vetting potential candidates now. Democrats have a budding platform and the specifics need to get ironed out through a tug-o-war with the corn cobbed self proclaimed donut center.

The american election cycle is looooooong.

A larger percentage of Bernie voters voted for Hillary than registered Dems did.

If it's too early for the left to critique potential candidates for 2020 then it's too early for those potential candidates to be meeting with megadonors.

I don't think it's too early for (in good faith) critiques, but like the old saying goes, you can't beat someone with noone.

As DA of San Francisco, she was pretty much a shoo-in for California's AG after Brown decided to run for governor. She got a lot of endorsements from the usual California Democratic heavyweights. Was a close election (surprisingly) when she did win in 2010 because of the Tea Party's rising influence.

And I would have voted for Sanchez over Harris for Boxer's seat if Sanchez didn't fucking Dab during their debate.

idk if they are a big enough "force" for that to even matter. I mean DSA only has 25k peeps.

Exactly. DSA gained like 20k numbers from Bernie's rise. Any other leftist that isn't passionate enough to join DSA prob just gonna go Stein/stay home/ fall in line. Same shit as usual.

Does DSA have plans to run a candidate in 2020?

No chance. I don't think they even identify as a party. I'm sure they'd like to find someone to endorse but they know USA ain't getting a Corbyn and Ellison ain't running. Think most of their focus is on local politics and growing support for their messages. They (the people I follow/read) know they are in for a long long long long haul before they could ever "run" anyone.

If you're convinced Ellison doesn't run, do you think they'll have anyone (assuming Bernie doesn't run - not a safe assumption)? I hear talk about Nina Turner a lot...but a state senator running for president is kind of a joke, right?

yeah. DSA isn't a political party and doesn't run election campaigns, though there are some local level politicians who are members of and/or endorsed by DSA (e.g., jackson MS' current mayor chokwe lumumba)

Idk 2020 is far away so maybe Ellison could run, but somehow I doubt the party of identity politics supports a Muslim. They wouldn't even let him chair the DNC.

I've no idea what to expect from the left regarding 2020, they just want to primary shitty Dems in 2018.

yeah, ellison's prospects are pretty dim with the current state of affairs. party insiders stepped in and got perez into the race specifically to oppose ellison, in a race for a position they deemed mostly ceremonial and lacking in any real power. the clinton/obama faction are so fucking petty they won't even concede a position they have no respect for to the left, lol.

The Democratic Party’s Looming Fundraising Crisis

Republicans have quietly taken a decisive edge over Democrats when it comes to small-dollar fundraising.

During that same six-month time span, the RNC raised $33 million in small contributions—money from people who donate $200 or less over an election cycle—while that same class of donors gave the DNC just $21 million.
Perez knocking it out of the fucking park.
