Final Round itself seemed alot better run this time too, at least from an outside perspective. Gonna assume Larry and everyone else involved took all the criticism from last year to heart.

That and they literally lost 70% of the SFV playerbase from last year lmao.

Xian made SFV look fun, but I know it isn't, so not fooling me lol. Then again, it was basically the same left/right mixup over and over; the damage is so high it just makes it ridiculously good.

You know the difference between SF4 Sako Ibuki and what you just saw. If not, can't help you. (Hint: one was absolutely insane execution and the other was target combos)

In SF4, plenty of chars have free outs against her and blocking her isn't hard if you study it in 4 (you can tell by spacing, which dash is used, or which normal is used to eat frames), which is why it never worked against top players and very top Ibuki hardly bothered to use kunai. A single person, ever, won a real tourney with Ibuki in SF4 across like 7 years lol.

It was balls then but at least her mixups now are deliberate. She actually requires set up and foresight rather than throwing a Kunai at a random frame while someone is knocked down.

The tournament was definitely 1,000x better than any premiere last year, including EVO. Most of the matches against the known names came down to the wire, a lot of the time.

So grandfinals came down to a 50/50 grappler vs a 50/50 which-side-I-m-on-while-you-cant-see-shit-because-bomb-explosion-special-effect-literally-blocks-the-view-of-your-character mix up character LOL.

I've said it before, due to the low skill ceiling and lack of player expression due to shallow depth, top players NEED to pick BETTER characters. Xian did exactly just that and surprise surprise, he looks like his old elite self.

Fucking Daigo still stubbornly playing Ryu is infuriating. Ryu was already pretty mid tier in season 1 to anyone with high SF IQ, why the fuck is he still wasting his time with this bullshit character in season 2.

But for real, tournament was quite hype due to the players and thuggery.

This is the kind of play people hated in IV. Now people are getting hype over V trigger comebacks.

Ibuki, Guile and Uriens V triggers work like Ultra combos except you press other buttons after they land (kind of like Soul Satellites)

Cammy's sort of does as well.
