Barley is also used for livestock feed.
A sixth of the world’s barley crop is used for beer. The rest is fed to livestock. The researchers said using wheat instead may not be much of an option because the outlook isn’t much better for it.
Climate Change is a plot concocted by vegans. :<
Some highlights from our ongoing indigenous apocalypse include a loss of 60% of vertebrates worldwide and an 83% loss of fresh water animals, since 1970.
Other analyses show that humankind has destroyed 83% of all mammals and 50% of all plants since the dawn of civilization.

you may not like it but this is what peak apex predation looks like
if only we ate crickets and berries and rode bicycles more, perhaps we could have found harmony
This was always a point I was kind of split on. On the one hand humankind has significant power to alter the nature of its world so it makes sense that species or even entire ecosystems not useful to us would be eliminated. Though apart from the obvious hippie liberal morals reasons, a shrinking of biodiversity of a mass extinction - which we're kind of in the middle of - could also be catastrophic.

could be = would be
let us not pussyfoot about when it comes to biodiversity loss of this magnitude
we r so fuckt
Losing biodiversity sucks, but we shouldn't cry over spilled milk. We lost a shitton of species but if we get this thing right then we can start to level out and build those numbers back up over millenia.

This new Brazitler guy is going to chop down the rainforest is the new fear.
He's pretty awful.
Up to 23 dead and 100 unaccounted for in the newest wildfire in CA
The Lord just getting rid of that terrible sprawl.
Wouldn't really call a city of 27,000 in the Sierra Nevada foothills 90 miles north of Sacramento "sprawl"
