A brush fire was raging across at least 10,000 acres in the Lake Hughes area of Los Angeles County.

The fire quickly spread from 50 acres to 10,000 by 6:30 p.m., according to the Forest Service. There was no containment. Several structures were threatened, Forest Service officials said.

my parents live in laguna woods, which is about 100 miles away as the crow flies... i wonder how likely it is to reach them... i know when i lived there several years ago there was a fire in the hills close enough to see in the distance, so that they looked almost like volcanoes, and the air quality was MISERABLE. flat out on my back in bed for 4-5 days for me, coughing and wheezing with irritated eyes like i had the worst cough of my life, sky turned orange during mid afternoon, was not fun times.
