You think being more energy efficient would make them have less energy available in the state? Idgi

Climate control is an energy hog.
ftfy.
Cold storage energy costs at work is at least $200k/month. Course we're talking a warehouse with -80°C & -20°C freezers filled with raw material and finished goods, a 2600 sq ft 4°C walk-in refrigeration unit, and another 1200 sq ft -20°C walk in-freezer.
Now I'm imagining Amgen's facility costs way more than our facility's small footprint.
If anyone wants to see something neat about the power draw during the California heat wave.

Scroll down to the supply trend and set it to Sept 6th (the day of the stage 3 energy alert). Battery storage provided more power than the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant for 3 hours. In 2020, the battery capacity was a fraction of what it is today (50MW in 2020 vs up to 3,000MW today) and resulted in rolling brownouts during the 2020 heat wave.
Yeah watching batteries perform as they did last week, and seeing how much more capacity they've installed just in the past year, makes me hopeful that renewables will have a chance at being a larger part of the solution.
The state line is is where some of the highest mountains are around here so I'm not really surprised. Still it has been unseasonably cooler here as it normally does not start getting cold until late October.

Crab season canceled in Alaska after a 90% population drop over the last 2 years. They're not for sure what went wrong and arent ruling out crab AIDS or whatever, but it looks like the water's just too warm for them.

we still woulda had them crabs in Al Gore's America
