    Commentary
    • PHASE 1

Atomos's first turn should always be Comet. This hits for at least about 3k without mitigation, so do take note. He should follow that with another Comet on his next turn. On the next turn Atomos should use Globe 199, this deals at least 1.5k damage to all targets.

Nothing special about this phase, just beat him down til you reach phase 2. Do not drag phase 1 for too long. You don't want to see Meteor or Nightmare Globe 199.

    • PHASE 2

This is where the core mechanics happen, Atomos will conjure 3 jewels (not sure if random), the starting positions of the jewels will be right in front of your party; quite a distance away from Atomos.

Throughout phase 2, Atomos will attempt to swallow the jewels by sucking them closer to him and eventually consuming them. Atomos takes 2 turns to fully consume the jewels. If Atomos manages to swallow any jewel, he takes an action for every jewel swallowed. This can range from damage, to self buffs.

Another 3 jewels will appear shortly after, and the cycle continues until P2 ends.

    • PHASE 3

Nothing much, kill Atomos before he kills you. If you let him take too many buffs in P2, this phase will be unforgiving.

    TIPS
    • Dismissal, and/or other abilities/SBs with Interrupt effects are gold here. Basically all you need to do is to never let Atomos swallow any gem at all throughout the fight. If you're lucky with Interrupt procs, then you'll never take any damage in Phase 2. You can even end the fight in Phase 2, which I recommend.
    • Slow is also gold, and that goes without saying, since it is one of the target scores that needs to be fulfilled.

Total medals = 18, meaning you can only afford to lose 3 medals to get Mastery.

RNG on this game is such a cocksucker. Spent 8 out of 10 Tempo Flurry charges on the goddamn Ahriman fight for 12 realm and he WOULD NOT BE SLOWED. Said fuck it and killed it cause I got bored waiting but good lord its so stupid how that can work.

Smashed. Tyro's SSB was nice with the magic blink, otherwise being on slow or life siphon duty. Had Aeris cover cures and apply Shout at start, then Lightning, Vaan, and Shadow bring the hurt since I had SSB or better for 'em.

The nightmare fight depends entirely on how much stun procs for you. Had a run where it only hit once, and lost three people in short order. Reset and it went off constantly, to the point that atomos didn't get a single crystal and I only used two cures the entire fight.

had to reset once after going through 10 uses of tempo flurry without slow ever landing. second try it landed right as the gem phase started up, killed it before the second set of gems spawned.

Opened with Locke BSB. RW Shout and OK BSB made this a lot of fun. Vaan ran BSB. Lightning's Smite + Dismissal stun locked it.

Used Northern Cross and Dismissal to control the fight.

It's true: stun procs make or break the fight, along with Flurry.

This is why I made mug time, 100% proc rate on slow as opposed to tempo's 30%. Great for slowing anything that is susceptible to it without the frustration of spending a bunch of turns trying to get tempo to stick or having to s/l if it doesnt proc at all. Don't even need to take it past r1.

That said, I just zerged this boss down, completely ignoring the mechanics. Mug time ensured I got my slow proc right out of the gate, though northern cross took me 3 uses to get the stun proc which could have been skipped in my case as I had full medals.

I dont understand, stun only procs once and never had issue of people dying,

    Were you killing the crystals?

My first run only had one stun land. Atomos ate crystals, got buffed, and started killing people. Second run I had multiple stuns land in a row to the point Atomos didn't even draw in the crystals before he died.

I did end up killing the first set of crystals b/c I took Zack with air raid, but it made no difference. With wall I took ~1k aoe dmg and got a doom timer.

Right? I had to SL on Garuda 4 times when she decided to open with that 6 "random" hits on the same person - instantly killing them before I could do anything. Other than that, these were far and away the 5 easiest nightmare monsters.

Pretty sure they messed up the order. The 150 guard was harder than the others by far =/

Have to redo the third one cause I forgot to slow him after doing an s/l when he split the third time and got blased with aoe's right before wall went back up.
