Aris going ham on MvC:I and it's supporters on twitch lol.
If you want to talk about bad graphics, that's fair.
If you think the character selection is poor, that's also fair.
But to say "the game is subpar" based on reasons that have virtually nothing to do with gameplay is crazy.
If you think 2v2 is a bad idea, fine, but there have been a LOT of people (note: not me) cheering a return to non-assist-based gameplay, so it's hard to bash Capcom for that. The one gameplay-related criticism I've seen is that wavedashing doesn't work (the same?), but already people have discovered other new tech that hasn't existed before in Marvel (super hops).
There is plenty of room to criticize Capcom for reasons that are valid. We don't need to go crazy with the game is garbage before anyone has a chance to play against another human. MVC2's graphics were ancient and recycled, and the music was arguably the worst ever, but it would be dumb to evaluate the game based on those criteria.
Graphics and character selection (especially for Marvel) are a big part of the game though. Skullgirls is suppose to be amazing and a spiritual successor to MvC2 but it's art style and character selection are some of the big reasons that game never took off in a big way and just remained a niche fighting game. Gameplay eventually keeps people playing but everything else makes people pick up the game to begin with and Capcom fucked up. The game will be playable at EVO so people will at least be able to see if the gameplay holds up.
I have no idea what this game is going to have for infinite protection. It can't just be the tag-burst because that would make you infinite bait after one of your characters dies.
The graphics are definitely subpar. The gameplay is intriguing in that it seems largely abusive and broken at first blush, which usually works out well for Marvel. I fully expect day 1 to be Dante blockstrings to Million Dollars, immediately tag and re-enact THC entrapped fuzzy guard mixups from MVC3. But that's too obvious to work, right?
Characters are a legitimate gripe but we have entered the cash shop age and that's all there is to it, unfortunately. Given ArcSys' history, DBFZ is likely to be just as bad in this regard.
TBH I'm not sorry to see wave/plinkdashing go (if it is indeed gone). The existence of it allowed Capcom to pretend that they were balancing the game around normal dash speed, which is irrelevant at even intermediate levels. Just give characters honest dash speed to begin with and balance the game around that.
The down, down stuff is whatever. It actually would have been much more useful in 3 where you didn't have separate P and K and almost every special had input overlap. At this point, it's not better or worse, just different.
How so? Despite new iterations which we've known arcsys of doing since guilty gear X going to X plus, arcsys has been good for part of xrd giving us certain characters for free (elphelt, dizzy if i'm correct were free for the first week). The other things arcsys cash shops people for are useless announcer voice packs of different characters, and alt color packs, some which were actually free. We dono how dbfz is going to be in the regards of cash shop, but at least they didn't drop the ball so far by saying "loldlcwhenwejustannouncedouruglygame" capcom has left a lot of people with a bad taste in their mouths with paying $90 for the complete game so far, i'm not gonna fucking buy it, fuck capcom, they already tainted their rep with me since sfxt, i gave sf5 a chance, and only played it like a week tops.
I believe he said it's not practical anymore (the down cancel is slow and clunky), which was consistent with what I saw when I tried it with X.
recurring day 1 purchase-only DLC characters
rev1 full price new purchase instead of discount upgrade
Whatever praise you want to give ArcSys, their post-release monetization schemes should not be among it. They are the worst company in the FGC when it comes to this, and it isn't close.
Ray Ray also discovered that every character is Iron Man, but jumping too high doesn't allow you to air dash.
I would pay fucking weekly for DLC, if it was quality updates for a GOOD GAME. The problem with DLC for V and McVI is that the game is either trash or appears to be worse than trash.
As it stands, MVcI should be, at most, a $19.99 retail game.
MVC:I looking this shitty + cross tekken DLC mark 2 (DLC characters featured prominently in the games main trailers, cmon dudes) + terrible roster + terrible PR + people already fed up with capcom from SF5 + DBZF coming out of no where and looking amazing... what a fucking disaster lol. I wonder how much the marvel brand alone can carry sales.
To be fair, rev2 upgrade for $20 is a big step in the right direction, even if it's still somewhat overpriced for what it is.
As good as RE7 was, I really hope Capcom fails and has to start selling off IPs. I would love to see what a competent company could do with Capcom's games.
Dante looks like his DmC version lol, game looks terrible but honestly I'm finding all this shit hilarious off the back of DBZ especially.
Dante looks like crap visually, but in what way does he look like DmC? He's literally dmc3 clone of what was in mvc3
