It's less terrible, but still not good.
- balance updates should be $0
- given that Rev1 is required, if you didn't buy any DLC characters in Rev1 then you are buying 5 characters (RAV/DIZ/KUM/ANS/BAI) for $20, which is a good value
- if you bought Rev1 DLC (i.e. if you actually play GG) then you are paying $20 for two characters which is ridiculous
ArcSys is and has been the biggest abuser of important DLC/paid updates in the FGC. Capcom definitely deserves credit for committing to always-earnable characters and free gameplay updates in SF5, though the relative silence on whether the same will apply to MVCI seems conspicuous.
So, actual vs. gameplay:
First thoughts: Visually, Capcom is trying to copy Injustice. The gameplay is still Marvel, but the Injustice (or general NRS) influence on the graphics and presentation is crystal clear. Thanos is completely reworked from the 2D version (think MVC2 Jill to MVC3 Jill) and he has GGXrd Leo's rush-cover accelerating FB. He appears to have an airdash, which makes me a little concerned about airdash proliferation; this isn't GG, and I don't want to play a version of Marvel where every character's strategy is endless box jump blahblah.

Slowwwwwww as fuck
I wonder if Disney had a hand in the graphic design choice. There was some chatter during the development of UMvC3 that Disney/Marvel were very specific to Capcom about little things like Dr. Strange's poses and the like.
Who the fuck makes those Prorportions and faces on the capcom chars... Seriously have they nothing learned from Kens FACE!!!!
How can a Game with 3 vs 3 chars look 90302939029039323 gazillion times better (DBZ) then a game using 2vs2... I really dont understand this
I think the backlash is way too focused on Chun face. Captain Broly and the return of Mexican Ryu are way funnier imo lol.
Played casually SFxT was fucking great. I never took it seriously and always enjoyed the game, it was horrible from a competitive pov which completely ruined the games viability.
DBZ has nothing to do with how fucking bad the graphics in MvCI look. They're not just dated, they're downright BAD designs. KoF XIV got blasted for having dated graphics, but at least the design was fine and fixable via updating shaders.
Nothing outside of a complete redesign can fix whatever the fuck is going on with most of these characters face.
I am sorry but how do you go from this
to this... and call it an aesthetic improvement????
which kind of reminds me of this

I don't recall giving Capcom a pass for allowing that abomination. But like I said, all the SF games re-invent the design/look between games whereas Goku is always the exact same. Capcom fucked up their art direction this time.
Chun-li in 3D has always seemed to be a hit or miss model for Capcom. She had an awkward build in SFIV as well.
I don't want to break out in a cold sweat every time I post.![]()
