The gameplay doesn't actually look that bad. Combofiend posted a video with Yipes and I kind of like all of the new mechanics.

    I'll allow it.

Agreed. It seems to have a lot of freeform and depth to the game play mechanics. Hopefully everything isn't utterly busted. Dbz still looks like the bomb diggity though

Here's the video with Combofiend and Yipes. A lot of interesting info.

    Some notes:

    - many projectiles can be reflected with well-timed pushblocks
    - for purpose of canceling during combos, Infinity Surge (V-Skill) counts as a special, Infinity Storm (V-Trigger) counts as a super
    - you can activate Infinity Storm to cancel blockstun
    - aircombo HK enders result in a small groundbounce for all characters
    - all characters can OTG after a sweep, which is a hard knockdown (no MVC2 rolls?)
    - 1 wallbounce/groundbounce(/OTG?) per combo, Power Stone wallbounce counts toward this limit
    - no true unblockables; high/low that hit on same frame will be autoblocked, but you can do "non-blockables" by staggering timing

If there's one thing to take away from this video, it's that MVCI is going to separate the people who can block from the people who can't. This game is going to feature enormous doses of entrapped high/low mixups.

Gameplay seems to allow for a crazy amount of creativity.

Echoing others; gameplay seems fine. Seems a bit..slower to me? Not sure there, but otherwise, shit looks wild like you expect form Marvel.

Just a shame it looks like an HD Mobile game.

Have you guys not played the demo? It's jaggy as fuck and the movement is so off. You have to block like a second to 1.5 seconds earlier than you should have to ala SFV online. The triangle jumping is busted to all hell and back.

The story demo is, from what I understand, different than what's playable at E3. They made a huge mistake releasing that to the public lol

Still think the game is a steaming pile, but apparently it doesn't seem as awful gameplay wise I guess? DBZ still shits on it tho.

This game reeks of "we need another year to work on it but they're making us release now".

Wouldn't be surprised if the people working on the gameplay know full well everything that's wrong with this right now, but some group of management/business people are pushing to ship it as is anyway to match some marvel movie release schedule or some shit like that.

It looks like it could actually be a decent game if they took the time to polish it. Pretty much everything except basic gameplay looks like it was a rush job.

Well, the E3 version is at CEO. We'll see if it creates more shills or becomes Kappa's dream of killing Capcom. I'd play it myself but I'm lazy and don't wanna drive 2 1/2 hrs in the rain.

So here's an E3 interview with FChamp about MVCI:

He said that "the difference is night and day" between the story demo build and the E3 build. While he still thinks the graphics need improvement to "look 2017 or at least better than MVC3," he also said that the gameplay is very deep and that it was "amazing what Combofiend has done." But he's mad because if he wants to hate and talk trash on SF5, everyone is lining up for quotes, but when he and Yipes try to explain that MVCI is good, everyone accuses them of being paid shills.

Another interesting point he made about the graphics is that the Marvel characters look pretty good; Nova, Thanos, Ultron, Captain Marvel all look fine. It's the Capcom characters that look like garbage, which implies some other factor at play... maybe the Marvel characters were finished first?

That makes sense, Capcom obviously released an intentionally shitty version of the game as a demo for the public.

Exactly what I responded with on Twitter. If there is actually a huge difference between these demos (there is not), then it is literally the dumbest shit Capcom has ever pulled. Hey, let's release a god awful demo that is accessible to 100% of our target consumers, but let's also release a much better version to 0.00001% of them! That will sure rake in the $!

Didn't people make the exact same argument with SF V betas? How the publicly available version was so much worse then the amazing one hiding behind closed doors?

Well, it is really, really odd that Marvel's characters would look way better than Capcom's, isn't it? I guess Marvel could be just like.. "Here, have lots of money to make sure our characters don't look like booty" or something? Just a bit weird.

In this case, there isn't any leap of faith necessary.

When it comes to the graphics, there isn't a problem with how the Marvel characters look... it's the Capcom characters that are the problem. And no one is claiming that there is some secret version with awesome-looking Capcom characters. People are just wondering why there is such a big gap.

When it comes to the gameplay, you have to be an incredibly blind hater not to see where the new tag mechanic can lead. This isn't really even a point worth arguing; if you watched the Yipes/Combofiend demo and you came away with the conclusion that this game is already garbage, you clearly aren't a Marvel player and this game isn't meant for you. That's not to say that this game is already Guaranteed Tremendous, but it has at least as much day 1 potential as "DP assists don't work and guard breaks have all been removed" MVC3.

Gameplay may be fine, but is it worth supporting a game that fucking ugly that is going to cost $90 day one?

Especially when good, nay great, AND visually appealing games like Xrd and Tekken are already here? And knowing that this games competitive lifespan is on a clock the second it releases with everyone waiting for DBZ

    Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite

I just don't fucking get it. Amateur modders can create better character models than capcom. Shit just makes no sense. The only capcom characters that look great are X-Zero-Strider. Two of them are robots and one of them has their face covered lmao. Arthur looks decent too.

This isn't really a good question to ask of a sub-community who was playing a game with 1994 graphics in 2010.

Especially when good, nay great, AND visually appealing games like Xrd and Tekken are already here? And knowing that this games competitive lifespan is on a clock the second it releases with everyone waiting for DBZ
Tekken is too far from Marvel gameplay to be a viable substitute.
On release, Xrd was arguably the best looking fighting game of all time (relative to contemporaries), and the GG scene is still basically just the same old people that were playing AC+R/BB/P4A.

DBZ definitely looks promising, but I think we should find out slightly more about the gameplay before we book the 2018 DBZ Evo finals on ESPN.
