Welp, looks like Champ and ChrisG have both announced they will focus on other games lmao. The 2 that you would imagine stuck beside MVCI, no matter how awful it is.
And yet ChrisG is still streaming mvci on twitch right now lol
Top player says good things about game I hate: Fucking retarded shill.
Top player says bad things about game I hate: LOL see I was right, that game is trash.
Chris G says anyth- Look homey, Chris G will complain that water isn't wet enough.
That said it's not a good look if top players stop playing since MvCI didn't really bring in new players to replace them like MvC3 did for MvC2.
The difference is, those called shills were constantly hanging backstage with capcom employees at events (que the pic of them sitting around a table with a stack of PR manuals), kept describing the game with the same set of buzzwords even when they weren't applicable ( "SICK" "CREATIVE"), and had copies of the game weeks before release.
ChrisG wasn’t shilling the game like at all lol.
Let me preface this by saying I actually like this game.
That said this game is as dead as they come. Capcom has just made retarded decision after retarded decision, and there is no salvaging this shit with dbz right around the corner.
Who cares anyway. Champ gambled and lost with MVC:I so now he's gonna move onto another game to try and make an imprint on. Hope he gets Sonicfox'd in that too.
Basically none of the well-known MVC1 players were good at MVC2, especially past year 1.
The only MVC2 player that was good at MVC3 was Justin (maybe Yipes if you REALLY stretch it Wong, Combofiend, and Y2J are the only players to make Evo top 8 in MVC2 and MVC3).
SonicFox didn't play MVC3 and he's doing pretty well at MVCI.
Marvel has always had HUGE playerbase turnover between titles. FChamp trying to cruise off of early access is over, Capcom trying to force this game down the throat of countries that never liked Marvel in the first place is over. American tournaments were the only location Marvel was ever going to "do well," and it has been doing just fine on entrants so far.
As far as DBFZ goes, if DBFZ gets a lot of entrants but completely cannibalizes the entrants of GG/BB in the process, that doesn't really affect much. If you run a tournament with 4 fighting games, you have to do some major backflips to justify excluding MVCI. Does that mean every tournament from here out has 3 or less fighting games?
If anythng, DBZ will help games like GG/BB because most players who pick this up seriously already play or dabble in anime.
I don't think its going to help as much as you think it will. DBZ is an anime game, yes, but an anime game based off of one of the most famous anime franchises the world over. GG is an anime game, but has no established characters or settings outside of the game. While a lot of people can deal with lots of generic anime yelling during every move in a game based off of a franchise they love (and DBZ's going to have full english work, not just in CSes), I don't know if that translates into loving generic anime yelling in any other game.
Still, more exposure is always a good thing.
It will def. help the GG/BB numbers. More of those players will travel to tourneys because of DBFZ and enter multiple anime games.
Going from pitiful to slightly pitiful, yes. Enough to grow into some massive scene rivaling the games you so fervently detest? Nah.
Oh, GG and BB will never be huge haha. They just going to get some life support.
At least for initial release, DBFZ will have plenty of entrants from other series since there's a lot of players from SF, IJ2, Tekken, and even Smash that have shown some interest to play it competitively.
DBZ will likely hold on it's hype alone... much like has it has as an anime, forever.
The graphics alone will draw in a fair number of people.
And the more people introduced to Xrd style graphics, the better.
DBFZ is going to hurt MVCI a lot more than it's going to hurt GG.
MVCI is already dead, with or without DBFZ coming out lmao. But yeah, that shit is going to take a drunk piss on its' grave.
