Anyway, going back to the first game I mostly saw it as 2 people who through their journey became close to each other after going through a lot of shit. Joel lost his daughter when all hell first broke loose meanwhile Ellie was suffering from survivor's guilt after her and her friend got bought yet she lived then was getting smuggled around until she could be delivered to the Firefly base.

I honestly wish the sequel focused on Ellie finding the truth what happened that day and explored the rift it caused between her and Joel.

It’s getting near universal praise from everyone who has actually played it though?

Pretty hard to judge something solely on leaks which consist of plot point descriptions and a few short clips or screenshots.

If someone explained the plot details to you of your favorite movie, but you hadn’t actually seen the movie yet, you would probably shrug and say it wasn’t good. But when you experience the finished product you can take a better judgment of it.

Sadly ND/Sony did this to themselves. Everyone would have been angry for a week when it first started and just moved on, but they kept striking fans that are just discussion the leaks and Anti-Woke groups who give zero shit about Last of US and just want to make money from the hate. they’ve been using the fans hate for weeks.

They can easily get people on their side thanks to Sony/ND striking their videos.

I don’t trust game reviews and I trust media websites even less. But I digress...

You do make a good argument. I don’t think anyone has qualms about the gameplay itself. I’m sure the game is fun and as I said pages ago if you like the first one for anything but the story and characters then you got like a 95% chance of liking this one. But,like every inch of the hate comes from people not liking the story as it’s presented, for whatever reasons they don’t like it. I don’t intend to support this game financially at all to “try it myself”. I have all the information I need to know about the game to know I would not personally enjoy the experience but I’m not going to shame others. Let people enjoy things... and let people hate things.

My older brother has avoided spoilers and intends to buy and play the game. I hope he enjoys it. I may even watch him play it and see if it changes my perspective... somehow I doubt it but you never know.

The only thing i can probably give it is the gameplay sure, but i heard if you played tlou1, this isn’t any different, and tlou1 played like uncharted more or less. All recent ND games have not been really significantly different since uncharted.
