I voted pokemon, having played a couple of the others. Part of me wishes I played doom and ffxv as well and maybe world of final fantasy after seeing some of the posts here.

Was a tough choice between FFXV and Overwatch for me, but settling in to a new FF world and not having to deal with the increased salinity levels of online competitive play swayed my vote toward XV.

I voted Overwatch. The combination of new IP, the sheer quality of the game, and the mammoth expectations (which were reasonably met) did it for me.

Overwatch is the kind of game that makes me wish I was better at a genre I don't like. That means something to me.

GOTY was WoFF for me. I wanted it to be XV/TLG, but they did not live up to the hype. WoFF was a quirky title I just wanted to have fun with and I found more depth in that story than I thought I ever would. It may have just been up my alley, but man. I loved the Knight in the Golden Mask. Favorite character in any game in a while and he didn't get enough screen time, imo. The one line stuck with me:

Exeunt, BEGONE YOU WHELPS! The VA fucking nailed it. And the Castle Exnine dungeon was one of my favorite traverses through a dungeon in a long, long fucking time.

The only games on that list I've actually played are FFXV and Uncharted. So I voted for XV. I'll probably get Sun/Moon in January.

I haven't been challenged by a game like Darkest Dungeon in a long time. The anxiety and butt clenching that it induces is just too good. Adding that with the art style, audio, and setting, it definitely gets my vote.

Also for those that have played it, a DLC was announced for 2017.

Stardew Valley and Dishonored 2 are my most played games this year, voted Stardew.

From the list of 2016 games that I played, I'd say Uncharted 4 would be my favorite. It didn't really do anything new, but I loved it, and I thought it was a good ending to the series. Rise of the Tomb Raider (PC release, if that counts) would be a close second. And I guess FFXV would be third, but it would be a faaaaaar third. Even with low expectations it left me a bit disappointed. Then Dark Souls 3, and The Witness. I haven't played any of the other games on the list.

Didn't play a lot of different games this year, but I'd say...

    Overwatch
    Stardew Valley
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II

For my top 3 this year.

Just thought about what I played this year and I'm really disappointed in myself.

    1) FFXI on a private server dominated my play time this year.
    2) CoD.
    3) Battlefield 1

Aaaand that's about it. I got dark souls 3 collectors edition and it's still wrapped.

Extremely tough pick. Stardew baaaarely edging out over Overwatch due to Stardew itching a deep farming rpg sim scratch and giving me OCD.

    1. Stardew Valley - 400+ hours in and I still enjoy the shit out of it and I hope to god CA makes a sequel.
    2. Overwatch - Extremely well made and balanced FPS with frequent and fresh meta changes and has me back enjoying the competitive scene and harvesting salt. Haven't felt this feel since 2001-era Counterstrike.
    3. Doom - Gameplay is rock solid. Maps are damn near Doom 2 quality. Music is better and more addictive then most drugs.

So many good games this year, and a bunch I'm in varying stages of completion. . for me though, I agree with this statement:

Of those, the biggest shining star was Tokyo Mirage Sessions... I don't know, something about it just felt so perfect as I played through it... If not for some tricky localization it felt perfect.
That said, my top ones thus far:

Legend of the Heroes, Trails of Cold Steel II (everyone in the Falcom thread would hurt me if I didn't say this)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions (I was pleasantly surprised by how good this was)
    Grand Kingdom (surprisingly fun!)

I like FF15 so far, but haven't played it much yet:

    Honorable Mention:

Brave Exvius, even if it does keep trolling me with Fran pulls.

Pretty much all these were my reason for picking it as well. Great new IP as Splatoon was and hope to see the game continue to grow and do well.

I played a lot of older stuff this year, and have two games on your list (Dishonored 2 and FFXV) on my shelf.

Of this year's new releases, I played:

    Last Guardian (currently playing)
    Watch_Dogs 2
    Uncharted 4
    Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
    Abzu

That's the order I would rank them in. Watch_Dogs 2 was a big improvement on the first, IMHO, I'm disappointed that the first one left such a sour taste in people's mouths that it's not even on most people's mind now.
