Is it a blatant lie though? Im pretty sure I read Dems did something pretty similar in the 80s. Not that makes it right or any less fucked up. Ill try to find the article later.

Two wrongs don't make a right and it shouldn't allow the other party to do the same but more which has been the republicans motto.
"The democrats did so we're going to do it but more"
This should not be accepted. This should not be excused. They are literally overriding the will of the voters in order to retain more power.
Here's the article if you're interested, there's irony in both sides, because I can only assume the republicans at the time would have fully agreed with you.

So Pat McRory is basically Kevin Chang.
>Irony in both sides.
No. Its assholes being assholes. They be dragged out of their offices and flogged.
Fuck this article. Fuck it with Trump's own golden fucking dildo. This is unprecedented. Dismantling a governor's power as you leave office is a fucking disgusting and disgraceful (successful) attempt at a kleptocracy. And while they'll have to explain why they ambushed Cooper, no one can say what they did was unprecedented.
The only point of that article was to try to normalize what McCrory did so as to appease the republican base and make the democratic one look crazy by fighting it. Its a disgusting article and I hope you don't fall for it.
Well thats certainly a reaction.
I said initially it didn't make it right or anymore fucked up. You said something was a blatant lie, and it wasn't and I linked proof the dems pulled the same thing years ago, that's all.
I get what you're saying, but it's kinda like saying "One party had slaves a bunch of years ago, so don't get mad if the other party has slaves now."
and yes I know the two aren't exactly equal, but when you start to qualify one thing by saying "Well but they started it!" then shit just escalates and nothing gets done.
Its not the same thing Day.
You set my House on Fire back in 1982 so now I'm going to set YOUR house on fire! You can't complain because you started it!

Quotes from a single person.
The Rev. Barber once told me, “If you want to know what a Donald Trump presidency will look like, all you have to do is look to North Carolina.” For over five years, the Rev. Barber and a marvelous coalition of forces across the state have organized to resist what they rightly describe as the extremism of the state’s Republican Party.
What is happening in North Carolina is unconscionable. A quick glance at Donald Trump’s cabinet nominations suggests that he will follow a similar path. From the Justice Department to the Departments of Education, the Interior and Health and Human Services as well as the EPA, we have to brace ourselves for four years of extremism. And I suspect that if Trump doesn’t get his way, he will try, as the Republicans in North Carolina are doing, to flout democratic norms—to throw democracy into the trash bin.
Governor McCrory is keeping himself busy.

Except its more like you attempted to start a fire 35 years ago so I'm going to burn the whole place down after getting evicted and by the way the police are already in on this I paid them off.
Checks and balances? Oh the thing that stopped Democrats from pushing that bill 35 years ago? Never heard of her!
Uh. The Dixiecrats in NC in all honesty have pulled some incredibly sketchy shit over the years lol. The Republicans are foaming at the mouth because while NC usually votes red in the presidential race, the Democrats have more or less ruled with an iron fist for almost 100 years here. Doesn't make this GOP power grab any easier to stomach, which is the point she's trying to make. Welcome to the post Citizen's United world.
Edit: Sorry, this was in response to Fiye's original comment, I didn't notice that there was another page.
I agree with you that both sides doing it is shit. But honestly, that was 30+ years go. I'm all for saying "they they tried it" But at least within a certain time period. Also, you can't hide from anything anymore with the internet. Not to mention the state has litterally gone to shit the past 4 years that Republican's have had full control. If you don't see that then honestly you don't live in the state(I know you do, you live like 3 fkn miles from me lol).
Hasn't Day only been here for a few years though? His experience of the state so far is probably only as being in the news for the same reasons as Florida and Michigan.
That is true and I barely leave my house lol, I am in no way qualified to make any judgment on our state's rise or fall other than the bathroom thing and Charlotte riots made us look really foolish.

And although HB2 made North Carolina nationally infamous for Gov. McCrory's attacks on LGBTQ rights, that law also stripped all victims of discrimination of any kind the right to sue in state courts; minorities and women suffer the most from workplace discrimination.
Passed by legislators who espouse their belief in local control, HB2 also barred counties and cities from passing local ordinances to raise the minimum wage or adopt any statute related to workplace safety for children, minority set-aside, payment of wages or working conditions.
This special session was planned in illegal, secret meetings that excluded every African-American member of both the House and Senate. The North Carolina NAACP and the Moral Movement see what is happening, and we have already begun to take nonviolent direct action to resist this political coup d'etat, even as we prepare to fight it in the courts. I and more than 50 others were arrested in protests this week.

They just want their safe spaces.
We're getting closer and closer where the only thing left would be violent uprising. Since protesting/questioning becomes completely illegal. These 2 and 4 years can't come fast enough.
