I didn't want to believe this because I feel like he's been their GM for 6 or so years but then I looked and wow its true. Even the guys he hit on like Aldon Smith and Chris Borland didnt work out.

QB reaches occur outside the top 8 (Jake Locker, Ponder, EJ Manuel, etc) - you don't see "surprise" #1-2 overall QB picks

The closest I can find is Mark Sanchez at fifth overall but even then I don't remember that pick being panned or seen as much of a reach

He had basically no part in the drafting of any of those players. While technically the GM for the class that brought in players like Anthony Davis, Iupati, and NaVorro Bowman, all those decisions had been made by the previous GM. Aldon Smith and Kaepernick were drafted by him and were relevant for that time period, but they've obviously flamed out for various reasons.

Everyone rightfully credits most of the success to that period to Harbaugh, and Baalke and him not playing nice with each other is one of the reasons he left. York/Baalke getting rid of Harbaugh is egregious enough of an example for how awful they both are that everything else is secondary.

Baalke and York have both been consistently shit on by the fanbase since Harbaugh left, it's just started spreading out to the rest of the country as it becomes clear just how fucking awful the team actually is. Clear signs of regression year after year are also exacerbating the situation.
