The only thread I looked in about the changes (which I think was the main one), the overall response was positive. The only really negatives I saw were people saying the Omega Drive changes benefit Cloud too much and that other abilities should also be boosted

Well the real issue is Cloud being OP to begin with lol. Any buff to Combat abilities is multiplied for him because of his Legend Materia and that USB.

Someone on reddit recommended using reflect for cid raines MP to stop the pro/shell countersand I tried it on D160. The only black mage was in an agrias/fuujin pair, and fuujin had ssb/bssb. The agrias banish striked'd my reflect, and the fuujin did terrible damage which would have ignored reflect anyway because the only magic buff was a stitch in time which got dispelled by seraphic ray. The agrias never used banish strike again so we had to kill with pro/shell on.

Already there with JP, did another 50 and got a repeat 1/11 Edward harp, making it my 4th horrid 50 pull since Cloud USB, once again getting the temptation to just start a new JP account (not gonna happen, but the temptation is there).

Depending on how long each phase lasts we may have a few days left of Orbfest but all those lodes actually come with the special event starting on the 25th/26th. Chances are we won't have much time to level up these guys (they are also released in phases except the login bonus one which is the very last login reward in the list iirc).
If each phase lasts 4 days you'll have like a week for the first two lodes at best.

so then assuming our phases work the same as JP's did, we'd have to refresh during the upgrade mats phase to stay caught up as the unlocks come. that's a hard pass, lol.

won't the upgrade mats phase be throughout all the other phases? that's how it was handled the last two fests

I'd suggest to not refresh at all in any phase. Shortly after Orbfest we're getting the new dailies and those are MUCH better than any phase for Greater/Major drops. There will also be two EXP dailies for catching up (or we can just egg a few people to 99 ).

Thankfully I don't need too many people to level up, so my only planned refreshes will be on the summon phase.

Too bad they don't give us crystals.

i think i'm still sitting on 70-80 MSO after R2ing tiamat, and with alphinaud's burst i don't really need to hone any of my summons. if the new dailies coming up are that good i'll just skip refreshing altogether

There will be a Summon/Non-Ele daily as well and on Thursday.

Exp will still be better in orb fest, but yeah. If all you want are orbs, don't refresh.
