Tora has the advantage of having any element loadout you desire and can be an evade or meat shield tank depending on how you outfit Poppi. 2nd Tank character is stuck with an element Rex has by default so it's a wasted slot. Tora also has better Driver Combo capabilities with Topple, Launch, and Smash compared to pretty much just Break and Topple with 4th. Plus his gimmick is a literal Harem Army of Maid Robots, how can you not love that?
To each there own I suppose. Honestly for being pre-set the Poppi trio have a pretty good selection of Arts and Passives and I prefer unique weapons over a Rare Blade with a generic one. I do like the 4th character over Tora though, I just like the Poppis more.
Poppi is awesome, and I don't have anything against Tora.
However, beats out robot maid trope all day err day.Spoiler: show
Even then, it seems like Tora is the face tank like Reyn and Number 4 is the evade tank like Dunban. Will probably want to switch them up at certain points for certain fights.
You can make Poppi an evasion tank too tho.
Outside of Rex (since he can equip 4 blades at once plus eventually having access to all of them), Tora is far and away the best character with how customizable all his shit is.
At least once you unlock his 3rd Blade. Up until that point #4 is a better choice simply for more elemental variety.
Fuck so much to do and so little time

Learning Stage 1 doesn't take too much time, and when you do No Damage, All Treasure, and All Ether, you get 1.7K pure ether and can break down whatever you don't need/duplicates of the items you get, so it's really more like 2K. Occasionally get core/rare crystals too. Loaded up QT and Normal Poppi last night, and looking forward to customizing them later too.
If they don't let you remap the X and + button real soon, I'ma have to club a baby seal. Since quick travel is in the main menu anyways, and most games put the menu button as the top one, in this configuration, I'm constantly opening and exiting the stupid map when I want to get to anything else.
Oh, also, forgot to post this, but since it's going to be helpful farming legendary core crystals, as well as getting a ton of stuff through normal gameplay:
- Find high level unique monster (I've seen it work with monsters as low as 60-ish, but the higher they are the higher the ratio of legendary to rare cores) But you want to be able to survive a while.
- Set up your AI party members to spam Break as often as possible.
- Set up your front man to have Topple, Launch, and Smash. (This is obtainable on Rex through Pyra, a Greataxe, and that certain blade you get in Ch 4) and with an Overclocking Bangle to speedup blade switches.
- Every time your party inflicts break, go through the rest of the Topple -> launch -> smash. Don't bother with other arts so that the Blade Switch cooldown can get reduced to a few seconds by the Overclocking Bangle.
- Profit as cores come raining from the sky (almost) every time it hits the ground.
This is a tyrant found in Uraya (Head -> Cataracts of Rujah), rather bulky, but doesn't do much damage, but I'm sure it works on others too. Should speed up farming blades rather quickly.
I really hope I have no Blades left to get by the time I'm lvl 90.
