You don't even need to do that. The reason people get wrecked on that is because the power lines get a buff called "Short Circuit" that lasts for like 90 seconds or something and reflects a massive amount of damage. You can just wail on the core and do a bunch of potion/healing arts while the buff wears off then go back onto the power lines and kill it. Don't even need a chain bonus, though you can skip the debuff entirely with one if you want.

The core, though it does indeed enrage, is not the one doing most of the damage. People just don't realize they're taking immense damage from the reflect.

Despite not doing a bunch of side quests, I was, and still am, over-leveled for the story bosses, so I just smack them down fairly easy. I think the only time I've used bonus EXP is to get the Mercenary L3 mission done, since the mob was L40, which means I could be even higher leveled if I wanted to.

Yeah, it's easily the best node to go for, along with Rapid Attack I.

cool, i've got the first RA for everyone in my party so far and coming up on arts chain soon.

another question: how useful is crit? i'm in chapter 4 right now and it seems like every bump in attack power comes with a corresponding penalty to crit rate. am i better off just focusing on straight attack rating or is crit valuable enough to forego a 10-20% bump in the former?

That's just kinda how it goes with a lot of chips. You'll get ones later on that will give you crit back.

As for how important it is, it mostly depends on the Blade. For someone like Mythra who recharges skills based on crits obviously it's fucking huge, or any blade who gets bonus damage on crits. If they don't have any boosts coming from crits, I wouldn't worry about it.

For tank or healer Blades I pretty much just completely ignore it.

On the note of that ability to engage-remove other party members' plot blades, this has some real implications on NG+ or just end-of-game silliness. Mainly in thrusting Nia/4/5 out of their pigeonholed roles as Healer/Tank/DPS.

Nia and 4 both have healing arts in Ball/Rings (though Dromarch is the only non-common Rings anyways), but if you have Ursula and Overclocking Bangle on whoever you're controlling you can pretty much completely invalidate the need for "true" healing anyways and be fine with a lot of potion spam.

I'm mostly curious if we'll have some interesting developments like Nia ending up being a good full DPS or 5 being a good full tank (since, like Rex, he does get the block move in Shield Hammer that resembles Tora's blocking move; Nia and 4th do not). Granted, an issue is that everyone's personal affinity chart does pigeonhole them into a role.

Without any spoilers, what's the need for a NG+ if you can have everything in first playthrought (afaik)

and #2 best way to level Uraya Dev points if it doesn't have salvage points?

I believe there are some unique monsters that can only be fought in NG+.

And I just bought/sold gold cylinders from Mor Ardain (sell in Uraya) to get dev up. It takes 4-5 trips per rank once you get them down to 5k in Ardain.

Ya buying/selling gold cylinders is the way to go. Took me 10 mins ot max every city.

Currently there isn't a NG+ at all until some update in January. We're told that:

In your second playthrough, you will be able to have “those” Blades join your party! You can also dispatch Blades like Pyra and Dromarch as a Merc Group, and unlock the “LV 4 Special” of a certain Blade.

Which I think also hints at the implication of keeping the ability to take off story-related blades. Which, again, might add some depth on a replay.

Endgame wise you don't really need a healer since the healing throughput on the Driver Arts struggles to keep up with the constant damage from Superbosses. Basically comes down to ATK/ATK/TNK with everyone using a crit setup and the Avant-Garde medal for 22% critical damage dealt as HP. The only reason to have a tank is to keep the monster from moving around too much while you and your other AI attacker get positional bonuses.

Also as a tip for Dev points, find the shop deeds that increase Dev point gains by 1 (I think there are 2-3) and once you get to 3-4 star just buy Gold Cylinders and sell them back immediately from the place you are developing. You'll lose a small amount of money but you can easily gain that back and it'll save you some time since high value purchases level up development much faster than selling.

Finished chapter 4, and now that I have morag I don't know if I should build her up to replace Tora, who I also like.

Are the chapters equally long ro do they get shorter as you near the end? Loving the game so far, it feels like it had a pretty big budget with all the action scenes

I would say 7-10 are all fairly short, though most people tend to rush 7 because of reasons.

I have a loooot of idle time because of merc missions but I've clocked in well over 130 hours and on ch8.

Without getting into specifics, make sure to clear out any quests in Indol before you get to far into Chapter 8

Tho I don't think there's anything super essential there. A couple of Blade side quests cross thru there however.

What party are people rolling? I hear Zeke is great in any roll, and I would like to use Morag but Tora is so powerful

I use nia morag and Rex

Tora requires too much to be good imo

(I’ll do in the future tho)
