Making the rounds on my first Chapter 1's.

Are sub quests generally completed quickly, or drawn out? For example, sidequests that open after H'aanit's Ch1; should I expect to clear them all by the time everyone elses Ch1 is done, or are they more local to the area using path actions from other characters specifically around H'aanit's starting area?

You should probably recruit a full party with all 4 path action types before doing them. Some might be doable before then, but many won't be. Most side quests have multiple possible resolutions depending on which path actions you solve them with, and the NPCs' fates can differ dramatically.

There are multi-part quest chains that take place over different towns, but the majority are pretty short and sweet—just might take a bit of exploration/progression before you come across the requirements to solve some in other areas.

Though yeah, just save before attempting a low% steal. If you don't get it in an acceptable number of turns (or however much you don't mind spending to reset reuptation at the bar), 'Go To Title' under Miscellaneous on the menu and reload the save.

Idk how many times you guys are willing to do that. After Save/Reloading about 5 times I give up.

Some people are completely anti-save scrubbing, which I kind of get. For me I just make a set limit like "I'll try it 5 times and then move on." I got lucky with the axe, but there is a bow and an incredible staff in a church in one of the second cities that I've had no luck with.

I know what it is i'm wondering why he's telling me to save scrub while that's what mypost said it was

7k per shot to restore reputation is alot of money when there is alot of 3% steal

In the city you're referring to, there's an NPC in a blocked house whom you can scrutinize, giving you 80-100% steal rates on almost every single NPC.

So I was doing pretty decently against most bosses, until I found the Runeblade at Lv38. Did OK for the first half of the fight, then he got serious, slept+stunned my whole party and I got bodied in 2 turns. Tried again, got bodied a second time.

So I spent a while trying to come up with a better team to deal with him (and hard bosses in general) and I think I found a winner. Third try went way better than the first two. Skip if you don't want fight spoilers:

Can't believe it took me this long to discover H'aanit w/ Warrior sub. She's absolutely ridiculous paired with Cyrus.

Loving how it was a huge night and day difference even though I only got 2 levels and not very different equipment between tries - mostly changed jobs/abilities. Big ups for RPGs that prioritize strategy over grinding.

Speaking of status effects, do any shops sell the accessories to prevent them?

Some can be found in chests, a lot are stolen or purchased from NPCs

Starting with Tressa and going to Cyrus has been proving to be a hilariously powergaming experience. Making blind runs into overleveled territory for shrines and town discovery, getting ridiculous amounts of money with Tressa's talent by doing so. Found a pretty affordable Elem+100 accessory for Cyrus (which is practically double at level 14) and he's now mowing down encounters left and right.

Currently have Tressa > Cyrus > Ophilia > H'aanit, just getting to Therion. Have all the shrines for those 4, plus Warrior because I was adventurous. While I wouldn't say any one element of this game is revolutionary or breaking the mold it's still a lot better than I was expecting given the massive overblown hype machine surrounding it. It's better than the sum of its parts for sure.

So far Ophilia's story has me hooked the most, but none are any worse than "ye olde JRPG standard tropes".
