So telling that the hardcore Berniebros (and a couple Trump supporters!) love Tulsi Gabbard so much. Found a great reddit post that sums that up:

House to repeal Obama coal rule Wednesday

House Republicans laid out plans Tuesday to strike down a controversial Obama-era coal rule.

The Interior Department’s stream protection rule could become just the second regulation in history — and the first in 16 years — to be repealed under the Congressional Review Act, which allows lawmakers to overturn regulations they disapprove of with a simple majority.

The House will vote Wednesday on whether to overturn it.

The stream rule prohibits the coal industry from polluting the water sources near mines, but Republicans say this makes it nearly impossible for these companies to operate and is pushing them out of business.

    ...

Critics have raised concerns that President Trump and the Republican-Controlled Congress are caving to industry at the expense of the environment, but Rep. Rob Bishop (R-Utah) dismissed that notion.

“We are not doing anything negative for the environment,” he said.
I guess polluting water sources != doing anything negative for the environment. The more you know.

    Same article:
After they vote Wednesday on the stream protection rule, lawmakers will turn their attention to the Securities and Exchange Commission’s disclosure rule, Labor Department’s blacklisting rule, gun restrictions from the Social Security Administration and the Bureau of Land Management’s methane emissions regulation.
I don't know about the other three, but methane is bad news and it's pretty severely under-regulated right now. Methane leaks are thought to be pretty common when harvesting it (natural gas) or when it occurs as a byproduct (aiming for oil), it is >25x worse than CO2 as a Greenhouse Gas, and it wasn't even monitored until about half way through the Obama administration, IIRC. The EPA didn't set a legally acceptable limit for its emissions until pretty recently.

That particular regulation I bolded is outlined here.

Had to know this was coming when they changed the rules so they could sell public lands without having to prove it was of any benefit to the taxpayer.

He sells it to Maryland. Makes the populace of DC weaker as a whole and doesn't affect the voting balance of Virginia.

Can't believe it's taken them this long. Going to be sweet when Trump guts the largest remaining hope for decent work that people without college degrees have.

Not the best source, I know, but it looks like Pelosi and Schumer are keeping up the amazing work by saying it's the Dems' responsibility to find common ground with the GoP and not pull the same shit that they were subjected to when the GoP opposed everything with Obama's name on it.

believe it or not buzzfeed is generally a fine source for news and politics. Sure the entire website is a liberal paradise puddle of pop culture garbage that no one cares about, but they are killing it financially and attract a lot of talent. writers jump ship from places like Wall Street Journal to work at buzzfeed. They hold themselves accountable and their former DC bureau chief won the national press award for reporting on Congress.

CNN is snatching people to rebuild their investigative journalism. Got some high profile picks from buzzfeed.

Also you have to remember buzzfeed is divided into their TMZ-lite branding (Located in LA) and their news based outlet (located in new york).

CNN might actually get watchable soon.
