This party is idiotic.
Instead of trying to rally the massive swath of young and working-class voters who have literally NOTHING in common with the establishment left, they've convinced themselves that the mythical "middle ground" can be swayed if we just remind everyone that the left is morally superior.
"America is already great"... worst thing she ever said.
And no one is learning any lessons. These crypt crawler soulless out of touch Pelosis and Schumers will funnel money to the shittiest, corporate carbon copies who can't take a single fucking seat back with their fence-straddling ideology of baby steps and bullshit
You guys act like the party out of power needs to be the party of solutions. If you say we should learn the lessons of the past 8 years...uh...why would you think that?
Literally the same stupid, fucking shitty idea that got the democrats into this position and why they're a fucking joke now.
Bernie Sanders is the most popular politician in the country, and democrats are still wondering how they can win over republicans. At some point the democrats are going to lose enough and realize the not only do the republicans fucking hate them, but being in bed with big business actually hurts them more than it helps.
But what's the point of getting into politics if you can't get in to bed with big corporations?
I can't believe the feckless DNC couldn't beat garbage politicians like Ron Johnson! They should have run candidates that follow the Bernie mold instead, like Russ Feingold
wait
Oh man is it April 2016 again?
Midterms are a referendum on the current administration, and the districts that have Republican representatives with the biggest anti-trump streaks are those with higher educated suburban whites (who Hillary did much better with than Obama [+10] while she did much worse with non-college educated whites [-14] who live in more important electoral college states). IF the Democrats win back the House, it will largely be because of those educated anti-Trump whites - and the electoral college is completely meaningless in 2018.
Archie I hope you're a neolib to the end. Way too many of us are seeing the light and we need you as a foil to keep things interesting
I'm talking about strategy, not ideology.
Because, I mean, clearly a Sanders devotee could win a district that Obama won twice, right?

Or lose by 9 points.
My point is that there is plenty of evidence that "the answer" to Democrat woes isn't simply "be an economic populist like Bernie duh!"
Most of the answer right now is that Trump is unpopular - and finding places where that can be exploited is crucial.
Much of the Democrat problem lies somewhere between more Berniecrats needed and not learning from Hillary's campaign.
I like to think that the real issue is that liberals in general want progressive policy but are too naive when it comes to making it happen.
Liberals want progressive policy and will continue to elect legislators that do not
