i may or may not have draft of the House ACA repeal and replace plan. its 105 pages and i fucking hate reading legislation because it isn't written in english but I'll post anything interesting I find in it. What I know so far is what you would expect.

    Repeals the individual mandate
Repeals all of the ACA's subsidies
Repeals all of the ACA's taxes

First read through I'm just looking for the word preexist.

I'm assuming that's just the repeal part. Because LOL if they think they can reform healthcare in 100 pages.

The draft bill was provided to The Hill by a lobbying source and was first reported by Politico.

It'll be good for me though, being healthy but making too much money to receive subsidies under Obamacare:

Obamacare’s tax credits are based on income, with those who earn less getting more help. The leaked draft’s tax credits would only be based on age, giving more help to those who are older (and who will presumably be charged higher premiums). The tax credits outlined in the bill are as follows:

    $2,000 for those under 30
    $2,500 for those between 30 and 40
    $3,000 for those between 40 and 50
    $3,500 for those between 50 and 60
    $4,000 for those over 60
With two kids and my wife and I, that's $9000 in credits per year for insurance. That's a ton actually, my current premiums are only $9444 per year.

Maybe it doesn't work that way for minor children? I dunno.

Those tax credits honestly sound too generous - there's no way they're going to get enough tax increases passed through a republican congress to finance that.

Wait, are these refundable tax credits or no? If not, then I could see that "working" (aka fucking poor and middle class people over by not giving them much at all because they don't pay much in taxes to start with).

Damn supposedly they are refundable. No idea how they're going to fund this, taxing Cadillac employer plans is never going to survive.

I'd laugh if Republicans are so desperate to cut taxes in general that they rush through a really generous ACA replacement just to make sure it's over and done with for the 2017 budget.

sorry for quintuple posting but i'm a hillary supporter, i nerd out on policy details

    Spoiler: show
because they're fucking crucially important goddamnit

edit: i quoted the wrong post but RE: Cadillac tax.

That is the current and only pay for. ALSO i bet the fed stands to save hella money on the per capita medicaid proposal.

There's been a bipartisan effort to kill the cadillac tax provision of the ACA forever. If the Republicans want to introduce it as the main pay-for for this plan then I don't think its going anywhere.

yeh i don't see how this plan even begins to get through a full House and Senate vote intact. either blow up a deficit still running at half a trillion (with tax reform + infrastructure + WALL + military buildup still to come) or finance through the hated cadillac tax and hard medicaid caps ?

Reads very much like the CYA "We tried" bill, but if it's this generous at the top, maybe what we end up with won't be completely disastrous? IDK.

It seems generous, but what happens if premiums continue to go up? If this is a straight refund on my taxes for 2k cause of my age, then I'm just 2k richer cause I'm not gonna sign up for insurance I can't afford anyways. If not, then fuck this.

I don't have time to read the whole proposal, but did you find an answer to your last question here? I strongly suspect this is not going to apply to kids.

I have not found that answer, no. The original Tom Price plan had a $900/yearly credit per kid, so I suspect this applies to them as well.
