This is endemic to both the establishment and the progressive wings.

Because somehow "We are against X. X is going to kill you" isn't a sufficient message.

Just like all the opportunistic vultures on the right, like Alex Jones, that capitalize on the stupid right-leaning extremism?

Not as it currently stands. But between the pressure they are under to get it done and the desire the GOP has to repeal and replace ACA I do think they pass something by August recess.

Current sticking points will be Planned Parenthood, Medicaid Expansion, Opioid funding. Plus the administration has said they "want to make it better" who the fuck knows what that means though.

Senate Problem children are Cruz, Lee, Paul, Mukrowski, Collins, Portman

House is a whole other can of worms so even if it passes the Senate I don't see the House passing this version anytime soon, at least not before the 4th

Add Ron Johnson to the list who will not support without changes

Edit: should be noted that Cruz, Lee, Paul, Johnson don't support it because it is still too similar to ACA not because they actually care about people.

They'll make it more cruel in a few ways, then remove the planned Parenthood defunding and pass it with 50+1 votes.

Probably. Still has to get thru house again tho which if they address planned parenthood may make it. I don't think it passes next week but I do think it passes before August recess.

Seems the ultra conservative senators taking issues all want to negotiate different things, there's not one big fix to get them on board.

Rand says the bill should be about repealing the ACA, not propping up insurance companies. Also insurance should be available for $1 a day.

So he basically wants to go further than the ACA? Because I don't understand the logic of repealing the ACA while simultaneously doing everything it does to the extreme ($1/d = $365/y, or 1/10-1/20 of the average policy per year).

$1/day insurance that covers basically nothing is a libertarian dream. Why should the government tell insurers what they have to cover? Consumers are independent actors who can determine their own needs for coverage and the market will sort it out.

This is actually interesting as Heller isn't an ultraconservative. Hopefully team Medicaid can grow its ranks a bit more over the weekend.

If you live in a state with high medicaid spending or that has expanded medicaid and have a Republican Senator (Ohio, Nevada, Florida, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Missouri, etc) I urge you to call your (republican) Senators and tell the interns you are worried about the the impact raising the age band rating and reducing medicaid will have on your parents and grandparents. Feel free to tell them you are a small business owner.
