That puts his incident at the James Comey hearing in a... uh.... tougher light.
I'm glad AZ's governor is gonna get a 6 year senate seat pick tho.

I know brain cancer can hit at anytime but hey how about some age limits in the federal government what do you say chaps
We missed a chance for a really great President back in 2000.

I still disagree on term limits but def agree on age limits.
Probably already some great jokes out there about how McCain has come out against this cancer but will just go along with it in the end right? oh well this is what I get for going out to dinner
I'd rather have a half brained McCain over no brain Trump.
It takes a long time to know how to actually be an effective politician. Places that have put term limits in (California's state assembly/senate for instance) have generally found that it causes the government to grind to a halt because no one knows what the hell they are doing.
The reason people think that Congress is full of bums that get nothing done is because Congress gets nothing done. But gridlock isn't due to career politicians, it's because no one sect has enough power to act unilaterally and it's been decades since they could effectively compromise to govern together.
It's like how you can poll someone on their approval of Congress but they probably approve of THEIR congressman.
Wonder if he'll step down shortly or keep his seat while he fights the cancer (but frequently not be available to cast votes).
and now Sherrif Joe Arpaio gets to be Senator
I understand that turnover is an issue but ending up with people serving 40 years in Congress that are DRASTICALLY out of touch with reality is the other end of the spectrum. I'd be open to longer term limits but they need to be there in some form or fashion. I think it fosters an evolution of the parties or could even (in my wildest fantasies) lead to other parties being able to gain seats and swing everything in a different direction.
I fully realize none of this will happen. Ever.
You don't really fight this kind of cancer, at best you can generally just delay it. I'm sure one of the more medically inclined on here can explain the issues it presents, but it's basically a 12-18 month death sentence.
Had a coworker get diagnosed with it about 2 years ago so saw up close and personal how this kind of thing goes.
I watched my otherwise healthy early-60s uncle succumb to brain cancer, but I don't know whether it was this same Glioblastoma that McCain has.
But yeah, reading the wikipedia page looks pretty bleak.

Something something told ya so
