Spent my last 21 orbs and didn't get Hector. I wanted Hector ;_;

After rerolling a bunch I ended up getting Hector and Takumi. Played through the story missions, and a few rolls later ended up with Azura and Ike. Seems like there's way more customization to units than I realized.
My box now:
5*: Hector, Takumi, Azura, Ike, Soren
4*: Marth, Hinata, Lilina, Tharja, Catria
3*: Fir, Palla, Henry, Donnel, Jagen, Sully, Est, Florina, Subaki, Robin, Gordin, Niles
Aside from the 5*s I'm not really sure how to build a good team, or who I should level up to inherit skills from.
My ID: 9697132911
Draug is pretty good, high SPD plus Armor buffs turn him into a Brave Sword monster, but his RES is trash so even fully buffed you need to keep him away from Magic (which is what Hector and Zephiel are there for anyway). You'll want to give them a mix of Pivot, Reposition, and Swap to help their mobility.
Hector, Takumi, Azura, and Ike should be a great balanced team, swapping out whoever for the bonus unit in arena (probably not Azura).
From your remaining units:
-Upgrade Palla to 4* and give Azura Moonbow and Wings of Mercy2 (may have to give her Catria first for New Moon so Palla can give Moonbow and Wings1+2)
-Upgrade Robin (male?) to 4* and give Hector Bonfire
-Hector gets Marth's Pivot
-Azura can take Hinata's Fury3
-Upgrade Subaki to 4* and give Quick Riposte2 to Ike
-When you get Olivia from the Daily Heroes map, upgrade her to 4* and give Azura her Hone Atk 3
This is just what I would do with what you currently have and probably may not be the best given how much SP you'll need to farm. It might be better to make Palla 5* to get Wings of Mercy 3 if you want to get more feathers while hoping for another character with Moonbow to pass on.
You have three of the best 5* heroes (Hector, Takumi, Ike) and a good balance of coverage so you're off to a strong start. I'd feed Marth to Hector to get Pivot, depending on which Robin you have I'd feed them to Hector as well to get Bonfire. Donnel is good to hang onto until you get a strong Lance user to give his Brave Lance to. Subaki I'd probably feed to Ike for Quick Riposte 2. Palla is a decent flyer on her own, she can be useful for a lot of quests that require teams of flying units, so I'd probably just promote her to 4* instead of feeding her to anybody.
In general there are some units to keep an eye out for for skill inheritence. Hinata is good because he can pass Fury 3 as a 4*. Lon'qu is good because he can pass Vantage 3 (which you should definitely give to Takumi, and then probably Hector as well). MRobin is a good unit on his own but he's also good for passing Bonfire, as is Adult Tiki. 4* Shanna can pass Desperation 3, 4* Fae can pass Renewal 3, Klein can pass Deathblow 3, Subaki or Leo or Klein can pass Quick Riposte 2, and one of the common Axe users (Barste or Barte, I forget) is good for passing a Threaten [stat] 3 skill. Life and Death 3 is also a pretty good skill for some units but currently no one can get it at 4* (Quick Riposte 3 is in the same boat).
Kinda curious what IVs you got on Hector, Takumi and Ike, but they won't really impact your build options either way.
Thanks for the tips. I forgot to check the IVs before I started leveling. Didn't see a calculator where I could punch in current level to check whats +/-.
Is arena the only real viable way to get feathers (aside from quests)?
At this moment, yeah Arena will be the lion's share of your feathers. They tend to hand out chunks for various events but for the most part, Arena. And speaking of Arena, looks like they're making some changes to the way matching works and also changing the Rank feather bonus to orbs instead, which is kinda nice.
Can't calculate IVs mid-level because level-ups are randomized even though the unit's final stats are pre-determined. You can figure out their IVs at level 1 or level 40, pretty much impossible to have a bad Hector though and my first Takumi is probably the worst possible combo, +HP -SPD and he still did fine.
How do you guys figure out IVs for units?
Every unit has one "high" stat, one "low" stat and the others are "neutral." At level 1 they're usually +/- 1 from their neutral value, at level 40 it ends up being usually +/- 3, although on some units it can be a bigger difference. There are a bunch of sites you can look at to figure them out.
If anyone needs/wants a 5* MRobin, now's a pretty good time to try since he's the only blue focus unit in the male mage banner.
Edit: Although if you're looking for a tanky mage, Henry is definitely more tanky than MRobin and definitely better at dealing with colorless units. His disadvantage is that blue mages are popular right now and will melt him, and he doesn't get WTA against swords (which are also popular) like MRobin would.
Need to stop chasing Green mages and just save orbs for Nephenee. I have enough to build a team with right now.
Sadly, 40 orbs lighter.
Fuck you and your bullshit draw rate Nintendo
https://imgur.com/a/tXerK
In case people don't want to count. That's 1 5* in 118 units. And an active streak of 73 new units without a 5*. Granted it includes some freebies (like 20 or so)
I do have some good 5* units (Effie, Kagero, Azura, Jaffar, Ninian, Karel) and some decent 4* like Tharja, Nowi, Nino.
The kick in the teeth that makes it hard to take is that many units without a 5* and the pull bonus not carrying over to a new banner. It's not fair being back at the same rate as everyone else after multiple banners of dropping tons of orbs
It would be nice if your base draw rate carried through banners even if your focus rate didn't, I agree.
I still don't have a Tharja, so I'm tempted to pull on that banner with the few orbs I have... but I really don't want Sanaki lol.
I'm passing on the mages banner. I wouldn't mind having a Linde, since my only blue mage is a 3* Odin, and a blue nuke is always welcome... But I have 5 orbs to my name, and I want to save up some in case the Celica banner ends up being awesome, or if not, just save them until I get a banner with a character I really like.

I REALLY want Linde, but not gonna give up on getting Ike till that banner goes away.
Apparently, I got enough units to make Horse Emblem on top of the Tank Emblem I want to make, but feathers, and Greater Blue Emblems are such a pain for me.
I got a 5* Linde randomly a while ago. She's very good, unfortunately I don't have a Blarbade+ to pass her so I haven't used her much outside of the training tower.
I feel like the 10th tower is almost impossible to keep units alive now without using a blessing after they added inherits. Which is really annoying since you have to do it 15 times with all these dumb builds for extra orbs.
I haven't had much more trouble than usual. Units in the 10th Stratum had wacky skill combos even before skill inheritence. Generally if you're not doing the team quests you want to make sure you've got at least one unit physical damage dealer and one magic damage dealer because there's almost always an enemy unit with comically high DEF or RES. You can't do that with Armor Emblem obviously, and unless you've got Easter Camilla you can't do it with Flier Emblem either so you really just have to fish for good color matchups if you're doing those quests and hope you don't get something dumb like an Azama with 40 defense.
