Booker is fucking killing it.
Booker is fucking killing it.
My favorite continued line from GOP senators: "I believe her. I believe Dr. Ford had something terrible happen, but I don't believe Kavanaugh did anything".
Then.... you don't... believe her?

https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2...udent-viewing/Dean Heather Gerken, from the Yale Law School, issued a statement later Friday morning in support of the ABA's decision.
"I join the American Bar Association in calling for an additional investigation into allegations made against Judge Kavanaugh," the statement reads. "Proceeding with the confirmation process without further investigation is not in the best interest of the Court of our profession."
Students sitting in Harvard Law classrooms “applauded” and “burst out in cheers” when Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh lamented the fact that he might never return to teach at the school during an extraordinary Senate hearing Thursday.
At the start of this Ben Sasse had an incredible speech about how Congress has abdicated its responsibilities in order to avoid having to make any sort of decisions that could look bad for re-election, thus forcing the creation of a judiciary that has to make up its own interpretations for guidance that the executive creates instead of actually interpret law. Of course, it's Ben Sasse, so he ended the speech with "and that is why Brett Kavanaugh would be great, because we all know he is completely non-partisan and loves beer."
I think the major issue here is that the GOP knows that they can't erode their base anymore and they don't care about making others hate them even more and they just continue to work the system through means of gerrymandering and voter suppression. How long will that strategy work? I don't know but it has been effective up until this point.
So Flake is voting yes, which means that Collins probably isn't defecting either.
Gotta chip away at this beast little by little. There is no magic pill to fix this system.

Her statement was explicitly “Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted me.” Not “I was sexually assaulted.” With Republicans denying any further investigation to look into the matter that would clarify any questions.
I know you’re not defending these guys but it’s not much more clear cut than that. You either believe Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her or you don’t. This grandstanding chicken shit to take a position nonsense has to fucking end.
Man, facebook is fucking hard right now. I could literally torch my family to the ground. One of my aunts is saying "i hope one of my sons or daughters never have this happen to them" referring what happened to kavanaugh. Her daughter (significantly older than me) inappropriately touched me as a child on several occassions. It didn't particularly affect me. I have no evidence. Coonicidentally, I don't even remember where I was. I've never told anyone (this is honestly the first time I've ever said anything). Like...god damn.
I legitimately feel like Flake could turn coat, become a dem, and be hailed as a #resistance hero and be as lauded as McCain while keeping a reputation as a god fearing conservative.
