I'm obviously not defending these men, but I don't necessarily see that as a logical disconnect. You can believe the victim had a traumatic experience without accepting their interpretation of the incident as infallible recall

Man, facebook is fucking hard right now. I could literally torch my family to the ground. One of my aunts is saying "i hope one of my sons or daughters never have this happen to them" referring what happened to kavanaugh. Her daughter (significantly older than me) inappropriately touched me as a child on several occassions. It didn't particularly affect me. I have no evidence. Coonicidentally, I don't even remember where I was. I've never told anyone (this is honestly the first time I've ever said anything). Like...god damn.

One of my relatives, who confided in me that a neighborhood female friend of hers in grade school repeatedly molested her, posted what was probably the exact same image on facebook.

Talking to my mom last week I found out that the friend in question now works at a preschool somewhere. I don't even know what to do with that info.

And this isn't the first time I've had the weight of "someone I know's rapist/sexual assaulter is known to me and could be endangering others" and not known what to do about it.

My mom was a CPA til a pair of brothers/partners both harassed and assaulted her, and she's never since worked in accounting and instead manages mostly female service reps in a different industry entirely.

I wonder how her career arc might've differed if she didn't have to jump off a moving train.
