He's not going to get "sunk", but keeping up the solid stream of negative focus on him has his disapproval rating over 50%. Helping him out by fighting a battle we have no hope of winning is stupid.

Problem with this tactic is that the geographical map favors the GOP. It's even worse than the EC map which the Dems lost.

So is a united but smaller Democratic minority in the lower 40s's more useful than a fragmented one in the upper 40's?

Remember that part of the reason a unified minority worked so well for the GOP is that government shutdown fulfills their goals. The Dems actually care about letting the house burn down.
