Zealot what are your feelings on 30 years down the road still being haunted by the specter of Scalia when having to read SCOTUS decisions penned by Gorsich? Will you think back to 2016 and still curse the day?

Mike Pence pledges Gorsuch will join "one way or the other"

I remember being in law school and everyone telling me "no matter what your opinion on his politics, that Scalia is a hell of a writer!"
Now that I read Supreme Court decisions for a living I want to slap everyone who ever said that with his rulings in Heller or Rapanos or his dissent in Lawrence.
Looking forward to another generation of "everything I like means what it says on its face, everything I don't like is up for interpretation."
Gorsuch hearings are in full flight. as expected it is a partisan abattoir. my favorite part was Senator Grassley asking him a softball question after a particularly rough round of Democratic questioning and Gorsuch responding with 'that's a softball question'
also, on the first round of abortion inquiries he declared Roe v Wade settled precedent and said his personal feelings were not relevant.
Stare decisis is a powerful spectre looming over the court, regardless of its political bent.

thats really big image sorry
Worth it for 'bigly'.
Libs are fucking stupid
If I can't get a primary challenge on any democrat who votes for Gorsuch, can I at least get a fucking primary challenge on any shithead democrat who thinks that deal is worth anything?
Schumer is promising to lead a Democratic filibuster against Gorsuch, the judge will need 8 Dems to break ranks or McConnell to invoke the nuclear option to get confirmed

I really hope he gets his messaging in order - this needs to be about "finding a consensus nominee" more than anything else.
He came out and said that this nominee comes from a president under federal investigation and should be put on hold tho. I mean, if we can't nominate a not-lame-duck presidents nominee for a year, surely a President not 100 days into his term under investigation by the fbi also qualifies for halting justice nominations.

But the Biden rule doesn't apply anymore.
Curious if the Republicans can find 8 Dems to vote for cloture, and if not, if the Dems can find 2 Republicans to vote against going nuclear.
Considering Dems couldn't even nuke Devos I doubt the latter.
And the first is pretty wild but I'd believe it sooner than the latter.
it's not unexpected but somewhat amusing as Gorsuch is the type of conservative replacing a conservative that would have easily picked up enough Dems to get confirmed in normal times
regardless the Democrats hit a procedural delay today that postpones the floor vote until next week, with a looming congressional recess on April 7th. they've learned well from the masters on how to grind the organs of government to a halt.
I would think there are 8 "When they go low, we go high!" democrats in the senate that would join in a breaking a filibuster.
