Kavanaugh looks so guilty with bringing in massive amounts of character evidence about him being a virgin, etc.. releasing his calendar, and all the above. If anything he has made his own defense worse. Not to mention everyone who knew him back then called him a liar over the virgin statement.

Ramirez didn't make the claims to Farrow. Other people made the claims to Farrow, saying he did it to Ramirez. Farrow then found Ramirez and approached her with what other people said happened. Understanding that she was drunk, had memory gaps, she took the time to contemplate what she wanted to say because levying those accusations at a federal judge in this political environment is a big deal. Ultimately, she felt confident enough to corroborate what other people INDEPENDENTLY told Farrow.

One, how many people from high school do you keep track of? Now subtract all the ones that you're only friends with on Facebook because that was 25 years out from existing. Entirely possible that this woman never had any idea what happened to Brett Kavanaugh and he certainly never would have said in any of his background investigations "oh yeah, I also used to get girls drunk so that a bunch of my friends could run a train on them, you might want to check that out." His entire legal career and appointment to the DC bench could have escaped her notice entirely and he didn't enter her thoughts until he became national news.

Two, Julie Swetnick's put herself in the position of risking her career and also being guilty of perjury. It's a big step to take.

Now granted I'm playing devil's advocate here because I'm not entirely convinced myself but I just feel the need to keep educating people on how limited background checks really are.

On top of all of that these are independent claims made by different women that seem to match up with snippets that can be gleamed from things like Mr. Judge's book and Kavanaugh's yearbook. Kavanaugh's nomination should not be railroaded through within the week.

They'll disband the party after Weekly World Ending Controversy #9001 actually makes them lose votes at the polls repeatedly.

The only people they're "falling into a hole" with are people who never voted Republican and never will. They never gave a damn what those people thought about them, why should they now?

I once believed independents swayed left due to GOP controversies. Then elections proved me wrong. Hopefully I can quote this in November and be wrong.

It all honestly, even if the Republicans lose a Majority of the seats in November, the turn around won't happen until January of 2019, right?

If so, they should honestly get the fuck away from Kavanaugh as fast as possible and push somebody new through asap. Kav has been a mess ever since his nomination due to Roe v Wade and all Republicans are doing is effectively wasting their time to try and push somebody new through.

The process doesn't seem to take long, it seems like it can be done in 2 months tops. The biggest delay will be from reality star president who wants to wait a few weeks to build up momentum before announcing a new pick on prime time

Except the GOP is scared they might actually lose a majority that could shoehorn a candidate through the system, which is why they're adamant about doing this. Right now among GOP voters and the folks keeping them in office the popular thought is to follow whatever Trump wants. They risk losing their seat otherwise, which ... I mean ... sure it sucks, but if they're not doing their job they shouldn't be seated.

The truth is being a government representative is probably the most lucrative job ever. You get most everything for free, your kids get cushy lives, and you essentially make money off of donors and other lobbyists to keep doing what they want so that you maintain your lifestyle. And all you have to do, really, is put on a show when things are televised and do other shit no one pays attention to that gets things done.
