I'm not willing to grant this possibility if he's going to keep lying about not getting wasted to the point where he doesn't remember stuff.

I can see your point here. However remembering that this is not a criminal trial and instead a procedure to see if this man is fit for a lifetime appointment in the most powerful court in this country I think it is pretty clear that he is not fit to serve on the Supreme Court. I don't think his conduct in these hearings fits the job and I don't think that someone should be on the bench if there is even a question of their past or motivations. If this were a criminal trial there would be a lot more investigating and work to be done.
