It's that usual argument people make over whether a proven winner (Watson) is better then the unproven project who more closely fits the mold of what an NFL QB is supposed to be.

Trubisky has the measurables and great stats, but across a very small sample size as he only started one year at UNC

There's a very real possibility CAR moves up to 2 to take him. I hope they don't, but they seem to be in love with him and have the picks to trade. Being at 8 to begin with and no QBs people are willing to bet the farm to trade up to get, it shouldn't be excessive. Mccaffrey really fits what they need since he can play out of the slot too, but I don't see him as a top 10.

None of the QBs grade high enough to be taken that high but we know from prior drafts that some team can convince themselves Trubisky/Watson/whoever is their savior and worth moving up for. Hell the Browns could consolidate some of their many picks and have the first two picks in the draft to grab Garrett and QB

If I'm CAR I take best player available at 8 or move down if you can take advantage of another team's desperation.

It has worked out twice for the Falcons (Julio and Trufant) but I hate trading up in almost every scenario

Agreed. I don't want it to happen, but it's sounding more and more probable. Could be smoke of course. Gettleman needs to just stick to the best available for r1 and 2 and ignore positional need. It's worked out well thus far.
