"There's gold in them there hills!"
-Julian Assange, 2019
Damn, was it really the cat's hygiene they were complaining about?
It's incredible people honestly believe there were only two opposing radical solutions to this problem (tossing it up the chain of command without any support or anonymity and dumping everything on the internet with zero filter).
Actual journalists have been doing this shit for ages. When the information you have received has the capacity to endanger human lives if released in full to the public, you go through with a fine tooth comb and make a fuck load of decisions weighing the risk vs the public good for each document in your possession. This process, when done right, takes a butt load of time and effort and can still result in people getting killed. But you know what? It's responsible journalism.
I believe that, but I also believe the general faith in their sancitity within the military is likely weaker than the typical BG audience.

OK this is pretty much how I assumed Julian would have been as a houseguest.
I would have never guessed on the list of reasons he was a terrible house guest was that he smeared his own feces all over the walls in an open act of defiance.
Then again I've witness to shit underneath a floor mat in a shower stall in my time in the navy so maybe that's not too far fetched.

Ecuadorian embassy evicted Assange for spying.
President Moreno - who came to power in 2017 - said of the decision to end Assange's seven-year stay in the embassy: "Any attempt to destabilise is a reprehensible act for Ecuador, because we are a sovereign nation and respectful of the politics of each country."
He added: "We can not allow our house, the house that opened its doors, to become a centre for spying."
Assange's lawyer, Jennifer Robinson, disputed the claims when she appeared on Sky's Sophy Ridge On Sunday.
"I think the first thing to say is Ecuador has been making some pretty outrageous allegations over the past few days to justify what was an unlawful and extraordinary act in allowing British police to come inside an embassy," she said.
She added that Assange's fears of a US extradition threat were proved correct this week after allegations were made that he conspired to hack into a classified Pentagon computer.

For sentences under 12 months you're generally automatically released in half that, so he's got 6 months in jail in the uk while sweden/usa sort out how they want to proceed.

Swedish prosecutors said Monday that they are reopening an investigation of a rape allegation against Julian Assange, a move that could affect efforts to extradite the WikiLeaks founder to the United States.
Speaking at a news conference in Stockholm, Eva-Marie Persson, Sweden’s deputy director of public prosecutions, said there is “still a probable cause to suspect that Assange committed rape” in 2010 and that “a new questioning of Assange is required.”

Manning may be out of jail again when a new grand jury term starts, but Tenga may also begin imposing fines to coerce her into testifying. Those fines could start at $500 a day and increase to as much as $1,000 a day after a 60-day period, BuzzFeed reports. The cast itself is shrouded in secrecy, which is partially why Manning is refusing to testify, and is believed to be related both to Assange’s ongoing extradition to the US after being arrested by British police last month and potentially to WikiLeaks’ broader operations over the last decade.
