I wouldn't be surprised if there were a sealed indictment for Assange relating to previous actions, in particular the information he got from Chelsea Manning. Back before Assange started playing for Team Trump, plenty of prominent conservatives wanted to see him (and Snowden) brought back to the US for disseminating classified information, along with the entirety of the national security establishment.

But putting that aside, if you read between the lines in the GRU indictment, I'd assue there will be a couple of FBI agents in the UK ready to have a chat with Mr. Assange once he's no longer under diplomatic protection.

Failure to surrender, it's normally a very low level charge - small fine etc.
The swedes ended their investigation so he won't end up going there.

It's really if he ends up getting extradited after that.

I'd laugh a lot if Mueller ends up requesting it.

Really the damnable thing would be if the US extradited him and that would be some serious bad news. If it were Obama or Hillary it'd literally be a no brainer they'd go after him but with Trump its anyone's guess.

I hope Mueller is the one playing 4d chess here. Imagine how great this movie is going to be if in the 3rd sequel they extradite this guy to the UK and when they take him into the room for questioning and it's Mueller sitting across from him. Fade to black, roll credits.

Ecuador has ordered Julian Assange to stick to a new set of house rules, including avoiding contentious political issues, cleaning his bathroom and looking after his cat if he wants the internet reconnected.

Not gonna lie. As much as I want to see this guy rot making the reason he released classified documents should not be one. Sets a bad precedent for other actual journalists.

They'll probably charge him using CFAA or conspiracy against the US and not directly on leaking classified info, in order to avoid 1A issues. There's already precedent on the CFAA being (ab)used this way, so I think it's unlikely this particular case will impact how other journalists are treated, one way or another.

Disagree. I think he was doing what he always wanted to do, cool spy stuff, and is willing to do it on his own terms with no government oversight. Yall loved it when he was playing this game to your benefit, but then 2016 came around and you saw why we should keep organizations like this on a short leash.

Is that the issue? Idk man I'm not convinced. From my POV hes a sad white boy who wanted to play spy real bad but didnt want to take orders while doing so. He did some arguably good to great things like a decade ago, then another opportunity came to play super spy and he jumped on it cause he wanted that high again. Dude got in over his head and was probably used but only because he wanted so badly to be the antihero he thinks he is. Well...now he is exactly what hes been telling us he wanted to be.

I dont think he ever really had good intentions, his aim was always just to damage the US, didn't Wikileaks fracture early on due to that very issue?
