Played the first mission and strike; both were great. Love being back in the world of Destiny. Only complaint thus far is the Hunter jump which is about 30x more floaty than D1; definitely killed myself twice on strike just airmailing a couple jumps. Eating dinner then going to spam PVP for the rest of the beta.

Cannot get a pulse to save my life.. Got a new primary scout though, which feels similar to D1 scouts.

Having used a pulse almost exclusively the last like nine months though.. still not the best option.

So playing around with stuff last night, are SMGs basically the pea-shooter Auto Rifle archetype made into a separate gun?

Seems like it Kas from my experience.

Overall, I like the general changes for PVP (slower shield recharge, less nades, etc.), but just feel like it will cause issues in PVE. Shield recharge takes forever and grenades do dick to enemies + take forever to recharge. Same with dodge/shadestep.

Also generally not a fan of the defuse/plant the bomb PVP mode.

Yeah PvP not bad but so hard to feel like your making a dent in pve. Also supper sad about snipers being practally heavy.....not to mention sluggish

Also can't wait to see more weapons or scouts feel weak atm pulse might see a nerf

SO as someone who never played the first one and wants to try and get into the open beta tomorrow with a friend, do we need PS+ for this as a whole? I looked up a few things and it said that the single player mission is free to anyone but some modes were locked behind the subs, and I'm not sure what that entails. And have they said anything about the actual game being locked behind subs as well?

I would guess that the PvP is locked behind PS+ and maybe the Strike mission. Strikes are locked behind PS+ in the first game as they require matchmaking. I'm guessing the PvP is the same since it matches you with other players, but I honestly haven't done any PvP yet in the first game (I got it like 6 weeks ago and been doing PvE the whole time).

Yes, the opening mission is available to everyone, but you'll need PS+/XBLive for the strike (PvE) and the two crucible modes (PvP).

How similar is this to Destiny 1, is it like a COD reskin here's some bumped up graphics but I could be an expansion pack and not a full game?

I got friends I want to get this game and play with me on PC but it's going to be a hard sell unless its legit. I mean, I'll still play, but it's completely different when you got rl friends and people you been playing games with for 15 years on it ya know?

I'm working on a BG review to hopefully post tomorrow, but to cut it short, I'd say the story, ignoring ttk and RoI, the story jump from D1 to D2 feels reminiscent of halo 1 to halo 2. It feels like they've got a better hold of the story and it's going to be more significant, but we've only seen 1 mission, soooooo....

In terms of PvP, I'd say it feels similar to D1, but also different. The balance feels off, aim assistance seems lower, abilities are more restricted, and team shooting is more important (you're not going to have successful 3v1s in D2, imo..). We'll see how it is in the final release though.

Short version, if you liked D1, D2 will feel similar, but different. It's gonna take some getting used to, especially after 3 years of D1, but I have a lot of faith in Bungie's ability to put out a satisfying fps game.

I have a youtube video going up probably Saturday. One thing I will say about longer TTKs, you can now more effectively strafe.

Hunter needs a new class ability asap. Dodge is on no level equivalent to Warlock/Titan's. Beta gets a meh+ overall, but still think I'll play the hell out of D2 in the end.

After pretty much full timing Warlock for D1, it doesn't feel that great in D2. The jump feels slower with less control and I'm not overly impressed with the Void & Solar abilities. Solar feels like D1's Hunter's Arc and the Void is just slow everything. The new Void ability where you can give a buff like the Titan's bubble without the bubble was pretty shit in PVP. I'm not enjoying the handling of the guns so much, but I feel like that is something that would change as time goes on. But right now I don't see myself using the submachine gun and I am a little annoyed how they choose to split up the gun categories. My biggest issue with the Strike (other than getting some shit match-ups) they offered was running out of ammo was way too easy to do. In D1, after a couple minutes of having no ammo at all the game would partially refill it, but that was not present in this beta. And with how slow the Melee and Nade abilities refresh, ammo-less sucks. Also not feeling the stat change from lowering ability timers to choosing if you want better mobility or defense. I would rather have ability timers. I understand they want to switch things up, but as it stands right now, yuck.

Healing Rift is borderline broken in PvP where Recovery would otherwise take upwards of 5 seconds to start. and Dawnbalde is the best roaming super currently usable. They also got shit-ass Angel of Light replaced with the air dodge from Twilight Garrison which is retarded, and Voidwalker is currently the only subclass in the game with access to the best jump - Blink.

In the weekly update they said they already changed ammo spawns in PvE but it's not reflected in the beta build. In D1 it's not just giving you ammo for free, it's vacuuming ammo bricks already on the ground into your inventory.

Ability timers do blow, especially in PvE. But even in PvP, no one gets their super until the last like, 60 to 90 seconds of the match and then everything turns into a super clusterfuck, and it's virtually impossible to get two supers in one game.

    Farm access time by region and details;

The Farm goes live on Sunday, July 23 in the following time zones:

    US, West Coast: 10AM PDT
    US, East Coast: 1PM EDT
    UK: 6PM BST
    Europe: 7PM CEST

The Farm supports 26 players compared to the Tower’s 16, although Ebenger says it will evolve over time with characters coming and going, and the population growing.

There will be various activities to take part in, including scored soccer, and Ebenger says there will be ways for players to draw attention to themselves, like an added effect when they run, and other things of a fancy nature.

When it comes to vendors, Cryptarch Tyra Karn and Postmaster Darbi 55-30 made it out of the Tower in one piece, and we’ll see new vendors coming to the farm as players’ stories progress.

Was pretty much the same thing in D1 beta. Full game D2 won't have the ammo issue or ability recharge issue as there will be better/different gear to adjust stats etc.
