PC streaming is getting nerfed. Most stream capture software and chat apps like mumble & discord are disabled while the game is being played.
That's a good way to increase their player base, I'm sure it'll last or won't be worked around.
I still find what they're doing to be pretty stupid, but what 6souls said is almost completely wrong and I'm not watching the video to see if it echoes him.
OBS, Xsplit, Mumble and Discord will all work fine. The things that won't work are direct game capture, or anything that draws on the screen (ie overlays). You can still window capture in OBS, you can still run Discord, you just can't have the "Who's speaking" overlay.
Why Bungie thinks they're the only AAA game on the market that needs to go that far, I have no idea.
They went into their logic during their Weekly Update, and the justification they gave was that it's part of their effort to prevent cheating by, in their words, blocking any program that adds code to the game client. I rarely play games on PC, so I know very little about all that to give a response.
If preventing cheating is at the top of your priorities then yes it makes sense. I think if it gets to the point that they're blocking things that are somewhat fundamental to the current gaming experience to prevent cheating, most people will agree it will have gotten kinda crazy though..
I know what they said, but every other AAA game out there seems to do all right at preventing cheating without resorting to that kind of heavy-handed approach. This level of interference is, to the best of my knowledge, unprecedented, and I'm extremely skeptical that the efficacy of this approach will justify it.
Ehhh.. I don't necessarily agree that other companies are better at preventing cheating. That said, most are more aggressive in responding and actually do a good job of punishing cheaters -- something that cannot be said for Bungie with D1 (which is weird because they used to be better back during the Halo days..). They threw out major ban waves what, two or three times over the course of D1? And I can't remember if any of those were perma-bans or only temporary.
You can't really say other companies are worse at cheating prevention when Bungie has effectively no history of doing so in the PC space because they haven't put out a PC game in nearly 20 years. I'm not saying other studios are better at it, I'm saying no other studio has ever been this aggressive and I doubt the payoff will be worthwhile. Surely other studios have considered this approach, so why have none of them done it? Probably because the ends don't justify the means.
Rockstar energy drink cans and Pop Tarts boxes will contain exclusive launch dlc codes.

How long do pop tarts last before they expire? Maybe I'll buy a few boxes now for when I have a kid and it grows up.
My dad loves pop tarts...sweet
Weekly Update:
https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Artic...ngie--08102017
With the PC beta coming up, they mostly framed the update in that context, but I imagine most of this will carry over to the full game as well.
They go into some detail regarding quickplay and competitive -- quickplay is about finding the fastest match, competitive will try to match you against players in your skill range. We'll see how this holds up, but they did say that the two playlists will be tuned separately. Also, they mention that the average ranking of a team will be considered when looking for matches.
A few of the glitches from the console beta are fixed for the PC beta (infinite super, infinite grenades, etc), they decreased the time it takes to charge a super, increased grenade damage in PvE, increased power ammo in PvE and made it drop from all yellow bar enemies.
Probably belongs in the other thread, but figure everyone has migrated here at this point -- this is the final weekend of Trials and the last chance to make it to the Lighthouse in D1.
I've never done trials =(
I wouldn't start now and ruin your opinion of it forever.
Are the xbros migrating?
If I buy it it'll be for Xbox, yeah. I doubt I'll know whether or not I'm buying it until the week it releases though.
