6 maps in the game and they're already giving us a "remake" (reskin really)?
I hope they scaled it down. It'd be way too big for 4v4 at its original size.
What a fantastic way to deflect criticism. Let's all just jerk off over the marginal quality of life improvements they made to a game that desperately needed more and how the real endgame of Destiny is making friends to do nothing with together.
I just hate the criticism of "it's just a remake"
Sure it's a "cheap way out" but it's adding another map into the rotation, and one a lot of people liked. I assume you also complain about the Rise of Iron PvP map that came with the launch of the game since it was just a D1 social space?
The Felwinter's Peak map was modified a bit but yeah, I'm not a fan of that, or of Altar of Flame which is a (fairly significantly) modified Burning Shrine.
If we were 10 or 12 maps deep I'd have little to no issue with bringing back a community favorite or two, but we aren't, and this is just lazy. The same way all the reskinned armor sets are lazy, and the D1 Exotics are lazy (and more than a little insulting).
There are improvements over D1, obviously, but to me it feels like they spent three years working on their particle effects and then went "shit, D2 has to launch this year."
First off, pretty much everyone remakes popular maps, so.. lol?
That said, yes, the game has it's flaws, and if you want to complain about them, go ahead. The lack of crucible maps is a fair criticism (although I think we're up to ten, unless I'm forgetting any). But a free map? That's what you're going to complain about?
I like some of the returning exotics. What I don’t like is the dumbing down of customization. I know not everyone likes the double RNG factor of legendaries with rolls and such but it sure added a bit of farm ability and with the amount of legendaries you can get in this game it feels like that would be less grindy than it was in De1.
I’m half and half I guess. Just feel like it was more a means to subdue and remove any chance of a run away OP/fun gun type they didn’t account for, so they made them all static and balanced. As I overheard and I can’t recall where, a lot of things in Destiny 2 feel like they spent more time making sure it wasn’t overpowered rather than making sure it felt fun or satisfying to use. Rat King is a fine example.
I still enjoy the game no doubt but I’m sure getting the “I’m out of shit to do” symptoms real quick... 3 characters all level 300+ with two at 304... I got most the exotics I want, and I’ve got guns I like using... I’ve beaten Prestige Nigtfall... I’m running out of ideas :/
Edit: Side note putting Shotguns and snipers into heavy slot pretty much murdered them outside PVP. Snipers in general are absolute fucking trash tier, I have yet to find a decent one and aside from that the ammo count and damage is far too low. I just feel rockets or swords are infinitely better options as a good scout rifle just feels superior.
Shotgun and swords in the same slot seems brain dead too....
Overall I’m criticizing because I love it![]()
i can't believe how lazy call of duty is just bringing back nuketown over and over smdh
IB pulse is pretty baller. Feels like grasp.
And I love shores of time, so gtfo. Game is flawed. Like every online game ever at launch. Seriously. Name one fucking mmo that released damn near perfect with gobs of content.

Not to play the devils advocate, but I’m gunna, a direct sequel with reused assets is a lot different than a fresh faced built from the ground up MMO. I don’t want to be strip fed De1 content as “new”, so I was hoping for a lot of it to come back at/near launch. I miss my Fallen-run boss pit which name escapes me.
(PS I think bringing back favorite PVP maps is fine, i love upgraded maps like when Halo used to bring back favorites from the first game and such I’m aware you’re addressing Kaslo)
And though I would hope I shouldn’t need to clarify again but I like De2 but much like XIV, many of its flaws are likely permanent fixtures... learn to love it or leave. Especially if they go a year 1/2 route like in Destiny 1 where they made aaaalllll year 1 content worthless.
I just don’t want my friends getting bored and leaving again like in De1...
What flaws are likely to be permanent fixtures?

And tbf, I barely play PvE at all. I think that's the crowd that's getting screwed the most.

Those exotic hands I mentioned don't. It has 2/3 resilence and 1/3 recovery (I believe you can switch the recovery for mobilty).
Not really, though I guess it couldn't be bad for it. I just wanted to reduce mobility as much as I could, since it's pretty much a junk stat (unless you love fast strafing?)
For me its the way they handled Primary/Secondary/Heavy. Primary/Secondary are fine to some degree, in theory, but I think Shotguns/Snipers should still be in secondary and the trade off being less ammo(compared to other weapons in that category not less ammo than they have now, in fact they need more ammo...), where as I think the Heavy Pool is too large with many of them feeling completely obsolete or redundant (Snipers are underpowered and low Ammo, Shotguns are like shittier swords with less ammo + a reload time). This probably is different for you as a PVP'er. But in PvE I Just don't see the merit to certain Heavy types... I can't tell you the last time I even looked at a Fusion Rifle beside Merciless, and in the beta i loved the Linear Fusion Rifle types. I haven't used a Grenade Launcher since i tested Prospector. I dont even own a Legendary Grenade Launcher.
That aside, the One-dimensional nature of armors and weapons now, all having only 1 set of attributes just feels like a huge dumbing down and definitely kills the chase for "God rolls" as some called it. If i recall this was a design philosophy for them going into De2 so I see them sticking to it.
To a much much smaller degree, ships and sparrows in general are kinda less appealing in this game? In De1 the point of all these same model ships were the color variations... well... you can now apply shaders to your ship, and even change their transmat effects, so whats the point of all these copy>paste ships with different color swaps if you can swap colors any time?
And a small nitpick. the way Ammo capacity is handled mildly irritates me. See: Prospector. 8 Round clip and I can hold exactly 17 rounds total. 2 clips plus 1 extra. Why even give me the one extra? HRRNGLHR.
As I said in one of my posts i liken it to XIV, you either learn to deal with/enjoy these things or get used to them/quit.
There was always a "best choice" for each weapon type, so some of those problems existed even in D1. Especially when you list exotics that rule out the rest of the class -- how often did you use another rocket launcher other than Ghorn or another sniper than Icebreaker?
All that said, the fact you're not using snipers or shotguns seems like an encounter problem more than anything. Although, if I remember Datto's video, if you're hitting the crits, aren't high impact snipers one of the best choices against Calus?
Datto has a few videos up about Exotics. Most of the weapons are decent aside from Rat King and a couple others, but most of the armors are shit tier.
They're literally the highest dps
