I hear you, but I see this as a good thing, Exotics are already limited to 1 Per side, and some harder quests lock weapon so you can't just swap em on the fly... so Exotics should be powerful, very powerful. They should be significantly, far and away worth chasing, more powerful than any legendary you can acquire. Not just 10.3dps higher with a Maybe useful-probably not situational third perk. Make something powerful and fun to use, and make it worth chasing. As an example I have a body armor on Hunter, the "The Shadow Dragon" I think? Increases handling and agility after dodge rolling? I can legitimately not tell a single bit of difference when using it, at all, 0. This is the problem I have with exotics in this game. Hell, "Mechaneer's Tricksleeves"? Increased Handling with Sidearms? Thats an exotic? Who the fuck uses Sidearms?
Anyway, Almost every Exotic in De2 is like the shittiest Legendaries in Borderlands. I'm not saying they're "Worse" than Legendaries, they are technically better, but they don't feel "Better" enough to warrant only being able to equip one. (PS No Im not asking for a Shotgun that Shord swords and explode into more explosive swords)
Also, really to address the "Optimal Build". NO matter how well or how shitty you design your game, optimal choices exist, so i simply don't see it as an excuse to remove choices from the players, which is what they objectively did from De1 to De2. I think Raid Legendaries and Exotics in general should have set perks in order to give them the ability to make them powerful and valuable rewards to chase. But the RNG Legendaries from Engrams and such should have some degree of randomness and variations like in De1 since they at least seemed to have designed the game that way.
With such a huge Huuuuuuuge amount of time spent seemingly making legendaries significantly easier to obtain it just feels odd they would make obtaining duplicates meaningless as all roll the exact same stats, at the very least can you agree that feels counter-productive?
Edit: and I realize the irony in having this argument with the very people who care about nothing but Min-Maxxing. So a lot of "complaints" i have with this game are probably positives to you.
Edit2: I also realize that a lot of what I ask is impossible when you consider they have to balance PVP too? Perhaps do what any if not all tournament type things do and ban certain things in "Competitive"? Like certain exotic bans could allow them to be very powerful in PvE but not screw PVPers? Idk.
Mmm, Okay, I agree with that.
Side note: I want horns and Colored flame trails back.
See, the biggest fundamental flaw is the same one a ton of games make. PvP and PvE should be adjusted separately instead of trying to balance both. Putting shotties/snipers etc into power has been the best change to PvP yet. I didn't like it at first, but it really emphasizes team play vs one man army. You get into legit gunfights instead of one shots galore.

I don't really agree with that. Bungie wanted to create a seamless experience where you could jump from PvE to PvP and still feel like it was your character and that you were having the same experience. Yes, there are tradeoffs as a result, but if that's their vision for the game, I think you just have to accept those tradeoffs.
Also, you can't really complain that you haven't looked at a fusion or grenade launcher since Merciless/Prospector and then say you want crazy OP exotics in the next post..
Datto's video about exotics make a lot of good points -- many of those exotics are situational or built for specific playstyles. There are plenty of people who use sidearms and would find good use for those. MrFruit has made a few videos (two or three now) using double smgs and those titan legs that reload smgs. It's a ridiculous build, but if you play that aggressively, it can actually work. Just cause an exotic doesn't speak to your playstyles doesn't mean there isn't a subset of players who have found a use for them.
I should clarify that actually, thanks.
I used Merciless cause it was my first Exotic, and its actually one of the better examples of what a good Exotic should be. The other ones being Sunshot and Sweet Business, funnily enough all three of those are unique to De2. Its not that I use Merciless as my only fusion because its "exotic", its just that other Fusion rifles just feel like poopoo to me when you compare them to Rockets/Swords and even Shotguns (They felt weaker than Shotguns to me in De1 but thats mostly a personal preference, so its not conducive to De2). As i think you said its likely a symptom of the content I'm doing but I haven't felt like a Fusion Rifle would be more useful than a Rocket if its something real hard, or a Sword if its something I can safely be in Melee range for. Fusion Rifles as a weapon type was okay as a secondary in De1 because they were a niche longer-range shotgun, but compared to actual Power Weapons they fall flat, Merciless being redeemable because of its unique firing.
As for Prospector, I don't use it "over" other Grenade Launchers, I don't use Grenade Launchers >at all<, I keep it because its 305 and I might have a use for it some day, I've only equipped it enough to know its a neat toy on big completely motionless enemies, and that its ammo count triggers me (8 round clip, 17 Max ammo... two clips + 1 random ... rhgnrhrng). Grenade Launchers on a whole feel like they could use some balancing, though I do like the concept of Flash bangs coming out of them and such. I own Exotic Scouts and Legendary Scouts, which I use a lot, same for Autos, Hand Cannons, Rocket Launchers...
So, I don't use them "Over" other types of their weapons, although that would fall in entirely with my narrative that Exotics should be incredibly powerful especially since you can only use one. Its that I don't use their weapon types at all.
Edit: and to just toss the question out there, is there anything in De2 the level of Gjallahorn, or Mythoclast in terms of nearly an entire community raving/chasing it and wanting it? I don't think theres anything on that level of OP/Chase worthy in the game right now, no big name exotic everyones hunting down... I mean you all may have your individual goals, but nothing comes close to the De1 hype of those weapons. I'd gladly take a grind worth grinding or a weapon worth chasing even if it meant I'd have it equipped 99.99% of the time.
And I know with good design philosophy they can't all be "The most OP", its why Mobile games have 3* units, new packs of Trading Cards have useless garbage in them, or in De1 they created objectively and subjectively really shit tier legendaries... they can't all be the best thing ever... I'm really just asking for some things to chase. "God Rolls" on RNG legendaries filled that gap for a lot of people, they removed that, whats left? Games been out a month and I already have every exotic weapon save DARCI, which I couldn't care less about,.
This is a Loot-Grinder game, but the loot is easy to obtain as it basically rains from the sky, and almost all the good Exotics were given away free for doing the story. They need to either bring back a little RNG to legendaries with possibility for great rolls, or start making really rare Exotics that are really good and worth chasing, maybe even Raid/NightPrestige Exclusive items. Something to make endgame worth repeating and exciting to do. I legitimately haven't done a strike on my hunter since week 1, have any of you? Why would you? it doesn't reward powerful gear which is the only way to progress and you can get almost every Legendary in the game from one of the varied Token systems, and every Legendary has the same affixes so once you get it you have the best version of it.
(PS I'm not complaining about the Loot being more available, I'm not complaining about real rewards from story missions, I like these changes)
(PPS, I ain't trying to put a damper on ya'll either, if you enjoy the game great, if they stay the same and you still like it? Good. I'll learn to deal or move on, I'm not demanding anything, I'm only suggesting changes I think the game will need or eventually it'll scamper off into obscurity much like Destiny 1 did a month after launch)
Bungie has been moving away from the crazy OP exotics since TTK though in favor of more situational pieces. What were the two most used exotics in KF? Black Spindle and Touch of Malice -- Spindle which allowed you to do a ton of damage to stationary bosses and Malice which was really only useful against Oryx/Sisters. Even after we got Ghorn back, how many people used it during WotM?
Look, if you want to complain about fixed rolls, I'm with you. I talked about it when I reviewed D2 -- fixed rolls are killer for the hardcore crowd. At the end of the day though, those of us in that crowd have to accept that Bungie is trying to attract more casual players to play Destiny and then come back for the expansions. They're playing to the fact that they already have the hardcore players hooked. Maybe the more casual push will drive those players away and Bungie will have to rethink their approach, maybe we're all already hooked anyway.
I can't shake the thought that D2 feels like a slightly bigger TTK with reworked stuff. It really feels like a D1 4.0 build (if TTK was 3.0, the big Y2 stuff was 2.0). I am deeply disappointed by how dumb the ghost reacts to things. First time, the power goes out and the ghost is confused (we're fighting Fallen; how did it forget Servitors? We killed bosses). Surprised by the Hive on Titan (a moon of the planet that had a massive HIVE ship...). We plop onto Nessus, first look, I know Vex, and my ghost is confused. It bothers me that Bungie seems to cater to those who didn't play D1 (which is kinda insulting) or wrote really horribly (which is evident by many scenes; "He was alive, until he wasn't").
Edit: PvP matchmaking; how have they not learned to put pre-mades with OTHER pre-mades? And so many matches where two-mans are paired against four rando. Why not split them?
OH baby these opinion walls are being constructed so hard I’m surprised we have enough pylons for them.
Anyways. I got the hunter mask from iron banner. My hunter looks fucking dope now. Did the prestige nightfall and just looking to finish the raid tonight to be done for the week. Going out of town this weekend so I doubt I’m going to able to show the Titan or warlock Any love. Once you hit 305 and cap the weapons you typically use there really isn’t much upgrading to be had. Just some minor stuff to tweak like making rotating sets of perks armors so you’re constantly depressing cooldowj times of void arc solar.
So from Cayde, Shaxx, Hawthorn x3, no helmets to make my hunter 305 ; ;
No luck getting boots last week to reach 305. This week I get them from a Clan package and shortly after I finally get Orpheus Rig. It was a good day.

General
Fixed an issue that was causing crashes while loading into the Tower
So thinking today after some matches this morning... I think Shores of Time may be a little too big for 4v4... It feels like it takes too long to get around to some parts.
I come to this thread to hear people making fun of Fiend, not for wall o' texts. Get it together people.
Back in town finally after flying 25,000 miles over the past couple weeks. Will log on tonight around 7 PM ET for some IB; just toss me an invite if you have an open space.
Anyone feel like raiding? I've got about 2 hours free.
This may be a stupid question but if I reroll my Titan and one of the three exotic armor pieces I do not have unlocked will I be able to choose that one the second time through or is that option gone now? Can't get war rig to save my life

Holy fucking shit at calus. That was amazing to watch. That's some real fucking skill right there.
So, Lord Salad has the same VA as Reaper in Overwatch and if you get something like a 10+ kill streak in Iron Banana, he will start talking like Reaper and Shaxx begins yelling at him.
