I find all of the PVE cheeses acceptable, except the ones that require a connection loss (such a bitch to do). Killer was surprised when I accepted a party invite because he always seeing me playing by myself. Well, it's a lot easier to exploit this game when when solo. There is a public event "exploit" where you can rezone multiple times to catch in-progress events. Only works for solo players.

People pushed Atheon off because it took 10 seconds, not because Atheon was hard. There is no "acceptable cheese", just glitches that are or aren't worth the effort. And glitching Calus is not worth the effort.

I think this is probably my view on this as well (although, pushing Atheon was early enough that some of those groups probably couldn't do it.. forever 29 and all that). Is it saving you time or is it not worth the effort/used to cover up not knowing how to handle the encounter. Staying outside isn't hard -- most groups do it with three, but you only need two people outside to do it. If you need the cheese, it's probably because your outside people suck at staying alive.

When they patched it so you couldn't stay on the Hobgoblin islands/the top area for Templar, remember how many groups then couldn't do Templar? Same thing in Y3 -- trying to do the challenge mode with people who had never done Templar without teleports legit was the most painful part of Y3 VoG.

But Ghorn/Supering Skolas was worth the wait of a win even though doing the proper strat was super easy? I'm just saying. When it comes to cheese, it should be fine so long as it doesn't completely break the game.

Scrubs will be scrubs regardless of strat or cheese.

I don’t think anyone here is saying “oh my gosh Doug exploits are bad don’t do exploits!” Like you seem to think they are. I’m pretty sure everyone here would be fine participating in an exploit if it makes an encounter easier to complete (assuming the group either couldn’t do it otherwise). For example the Templar exploit where you could stand up top was something I did a ton because it was an easy exploit and wasn’t difficult to create. The Calus exploit is just simply not worth the time/effort vs reward. And that’s why people here are probably bashing it or against it. I don’t think anyone is arguing otherwise.

No, I'm just asking what people deem as acceptable for cheese. Everyone is saying that the calus cheese wastes more time than doing it normally, where as my experience and getting the cheese on the first go every time, the time to beat is about the same without but without the stress of something going wrong(save phasing through the barrier inside).

Again. Just trying to see how people think, is all. I love cheese and actively support people finding new fun ways to break shit.

Everyone is telling you there is no "acceptable" or "unacceptable." Only "worth bothering with" or "not worth bothering with."

I've done the Time cheese, thats about it. I'll try cheeses if they're funny (Atheon) but they won't be my primary means of completing something. A "cheese" becomes a problem to me when people, like in LFG and such, want or demand doing the cheese because its 'Easier'.

Thats my line of acceptable. When its just a fun little hilarious glitch people can use but don't take seriously/as required? Its okay Cheese. If it ever becomes so convenient that people are required to learn and do it if they want to get into an LFG group or some such, then something needs to be done to remove it.

That said, we beat Prestige Nightfall on the week with no time gimmicks and super recharge on abilities by having me, on hunter, infinitely cloak myself and dashing past every single part we didnt NEED to stop at, and even then I just cloaked and hit all the Pads/Examine points/etc and we just blew past all the enemies, and we still only had about 2 minutes left when we won. I'm more curious if something like that counts as cheesing it, even though its not abusing any glitches or bugs.

Only unacceptable cheese is pvp cheese. Infinite arrows and hammer turret were stupid to fight against, but damn if I didn't get my extra black spindles with them.

Archon Priest can hide on the rock, or under the platform.

I'm asking, in the eyes of BGers, regardless of difficulty, what qualifies a cheese, in your minds? And what makes it acceptable? Most people on BG seem to say that Calus cheese is stupid, yet Token farming via zoning in and out is acceptable. Why? They're both abusing something ingame.

For me, I like to cheese cause it removes/reduces the chances of people fucking up, a glitch happening, or something going wrong.
Think of it like XI. Do it once properly, then just do whatever lets you farm shit fastest.

I fully agree with this. I was just more curious since so many hated the calus cheese.

Holy fuck man. No one hates it. Everyone thinks it's not worth the effort. Are you even reading?

Bungie is surprised on how much of the playerbase finished the story and have hit the Light Cap. They are now focusing on more endgame content because more people are still playing the game than they anticipated.

Messaged on PSN that I would do trials last night as I was leaving the bar. Ended up running into a chick who's a massive fan of my hockey team (I was wearing an old team hat); night changed directions pretty quickly at that point haha. Sorry, but will be floating around for Iron Bananas after getting some food.
