I’ll join the BG clan since my clan disappeared. Apparently there’s eniugh people to cap rank but nobody does anything to earn engrams.
much like the original Destiny I've had my share of fun with it despite the flaws, and will play the expansions and stuff, but the endgame is incredibly lacking. In their attempt to make the game more accessible and friendly towards new players they have forgotten to accommodate the large existing base of hardcore players who enjoy, or at least committed to the grind and striving to max their characters via the hardest challenges. It's a tricky balance between alienating more casual players with content they feel they can't do, and offering rewarding endgame challenges to the hardcore base, but ultimately their decision leans far too heavily into the casual player's favor to the point that it is very frustrating for people who had weeks of time played in the first one. The raid, while fun, is largely pointless. You can get 305 from anything, and there aren't even any cool raid specific perks or features, and the prestige raid feels doubly worthless. For the hardcore base it was always about pushing yourself to do the hardest content to max out your character, and without that incentive there doesn't seem to be much lasting appeal. My regular group doesn't even bother to raid anymore, and we did VoG for months. After I get this last exotic, and probably the Gensym set, I will have no real reason to log in other than events and checking Tess' shop for emotes. It's not the shitshow people make it out to be, but it feels like a shallower less-fulfilling experience.
Did anyone on PC remap their interact button? I was thinking of changing it from E to one of my thumb buttons so that I can still WASD easily while reviving people or doing something like putting the arc charges into the scorch cannon thingies. That was one thing I liked about using a controller versus a keyboard, being able to circle strafe to avoid damage while interacting.
I'm not concerned with the raid challenges and things, personally. I'm definitely not going hardcore on this game. I do like the Prestige Raid armor. The glow is nice and more apparent than the flawless trials glow.
I agree with most of that, but I'm definitely hopeful that the changes they're making with seasons will help that a little. Yes, it sounds to all be cosmetic, but it's still something worth grinding. That said, it is more than a little disappointing to be back in the position of waiting for DLC to fix everything, but what can you do..
Cosmetic rewards in a game where your stats are still directly tied to your appearance isn't something I'm super keen on, personally. No appearance-altering system was tremendously short-sighted of them.
"I played this game for 80 hours and there is no content" is pretty oxymoronic.
Why does weapon recoil differ so much between using kbm vs controller on pc. It's like night and day there is so much more recoil with a controller when using kbm is like a laser...
I read an article recently that said that they believed having the recoil like it is in consoles, generally an upward spray pattern, would be too difficult to manage with kbm as you'd have to constantly pull the mouse down while firing. They changed that from a vertical recoil pattern to a wider distribution of where the bullets will land, but keep recoil minimal.
It makes it seem really easy compared to things like CS and PUBG where accounting for that weapon recoil is a large part of gunplay.
I think the hardcore destiny base vastly over estimates how many people are actually a part of that community. Under 20% of all players have beaten the raid right on normal made? And probably a majority of that 20% are casual players at that. So you’re talking like 5% of the entire destiny population are the hardcore. Why would they cater to 5% it doesn’t make sense. I like the direction they took. It seems to focus more on difficult encounters and less on grinding to get specific gear. There’s actually a use for that gear now instead of just absolutely melting content that should be difficult now you need the gear first in order to stand a chance at beating successful at the difficult content.
It just seems to me that kbm has a double advantage now over anyone used to playing on controller, its easier to aim with mouse and has less recoil on top of that. Like if I had my choice I would stick with controller just because I am so used to it. But damn aiming with kbm is just so stupid easy with some weapons that you had to fight with on controller.
when the original Destiny had far more of a long term hardcore endgame and they touted this as having 'so much content we had to cut some' then it is a perfectly valid criticism. it's not a perfect comparison obviously because the time includes the expansions but I had well over a thousand hours played in Destiny, and D2 feels so shallow in comparison that even with all the expansions over the next years I doubt it'll give me half that. again, a valid complaint, even though it may not affect you personally.
Just a heads up, going to remove people who do not have D2 characters from the clan next Friday (November 3rd). Figure that gives everyone enough time to decide to pick up D2 or not (can always rejoin later as well).
Kinda a moot point since I think PC players have to create a separate account or unlink their PSN/XBLive accounts, but whatever..
They talk about it in this viddoc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujln3hGw-E0
Basically fighting the recoil is fun on the controller, notsomuch the mouse.
lol "fun"
it's also still far and away the best raid in the series and I looked forward to playing it
