Anecdotal but I'm a white dude from the southern US and I don't consider redneck to be a racist term against white people, or even derogatory at all. A redneck to me is someone who earns their living working outside all day in the sun, hence the red neck. Nothing wrong with that. Any race could be a redneck, really.

Now if you wanna start in on hick, cracker, hillbilly, etc that's a different matter. And honky I'll let slide just because I think that's a funny word and I don't think I've ever heard anyone use it in real conversation.
