I thought Guartz's opinion was neither party was responsible for either shooting?

That's the brain-dead argument made in this op-ed.

Galaxy brain is that the Dayton shooter's rampant misogyny means that Trump is also responsible for the Dayton shooting.

If only the left had their own Tim Pools and Andy Ngo's to run with this take.

I can't read the article because I block ads,

but I'm still a libertarian at heart and think people are their own moral agents, I know that's kinda been forgotten in our collectivism narrative of today.

Sure, people are responsible for their own actions, but it's impossible to make the argument that they aren't influenced by their world. No one exists in a vacuum, and we've known this long enough that no one in a position to influence people is unaware of it.

They are not even going to wait for the boycott anymore before doing this. They have learned their lesson. Which is to have XYZ say whatever they want, then pull them out for 2 weeks while people get distracted with the next person to say something, then bring them back. No harm done.

Yes - there is a bit of a duality in this, but the philosophy is sound. I won't pretend to understand why mass shooters do what they do, but it's something similar to this: They are fundamentally bitter at the world, maybe life itself and they use their agency to express that in destructive ways. While you can have those who can reinforce that bitterness, the fault can't be with them, since the fundamental issue is the bitterness/hate that's blossoming within. You are always your own moral agent, regardless of your circumstances, because the world is full of uncaring suffering anyway being bitter about it is pointless. Every major religion expresses this idea if you want to read more, or if you prefer more secular work I'd start with Victor E Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning"

Bold defense of "Hitler did nothing wrong because he didn't personally gas anybody", this is the spice I come to BG for.

I wonder if there's a manifesto written by one of the shooter that's hosted by Matt Drudge that describes his motive that I posted the opening except to that Guartz somehow refuses to read because that would mean his ideology is implicit in ti.

I'm just surprised he's so willing to let Mao Zedong off the hook for the tens of millions who died during the great leap forward.

Man.. you got that from what I said?

Here is a quote from the book I recommended:
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

Here are people who were treated like beasts, no worse. In environment that no reasonable person would blame them for acting inhuman, but choose their own way, that's moral agency. That's the ideal I'm trying to communicate, but according to you I'm making excuses for Hitler. Go figure.

I think I get actually, those who subscribe to identity politics, moral agency becomes incomprehensible.
