It's funny to see how this is an inverse of the brexit vote where the elderly turned out overwhelmingly to leave with the youth turning up against. As well as the following calls on social media afterwards saying old people shouldn't even vote cuz they gonna be dead soon anyway. As opposed to macron who won 80% of the 65+ vote and le pen winning 56% of the 18-24 bracket with alt right people calling elderly french brainwashed people incapable of finding news outside of state tv.

Looks like Putin miscalculated, and his little hacking play will backfire. I don't see Macron taking a warm stance to Putin anytime soon after this.

Is there any proof or an official statement that Russia is responsible for the Marcon dump?

Official statement? I don't know. But the Macron campaign certainly thinks that Russia is behind this.

Theresa May seems to be doing pretty well for herself.

It was objectively silly to believe Le Pen could win. France is not Poland.
Just like in Germany it'll be a miracle if AfD gets even 10%.

The french presidential elections are not held at the same time as parliamentary elections.
Macrons En Marche party? 0 MPs. Le pens FN party - 2 MPs.

Macron could've run as a socialist candidate but he realised the socialist party brand was damaged by hollandes unpopularity.

tldr there wasn't really going to be a cohesive government for france going forward no matter who won because the equivalent would be like having rand paul vs bernie sanders in a run off presidential election and bernie won, except bernie isn't a democrat and is running under a "peoples movement" label with 0 congresspeople/senators vs rand paul on a libertarian party platform. Would either of them have significant sway over the house/senate? Not so much.

The only real significance this has is in the minds of internet citizens fighting reruns of brexit/us general election in their own minds.
