It’s a jumbled mess by episode 5. From the jump they throw out names of Kings, Queens, Kingdoms, rituals, destinies, laws, battles of the past, etc. like I know what the fuck any of it means.

This show has literally no foundation at all.

I haven't watched it yet, plan to, but game of thrones first few episodes were like that. Just so much thrown at you so quickly.

Dear lord that episode 5 is a mess. The story works in the books because it's the first time you meet Yen but here she goes from power hungry to baby crazy in a span of 1 episode without any explanation.

Also unless I missed some trigger, some episodes are suddenly in the past and present between cuts with absolutely nothing to inform the viewer.

This witch is smoking hot though.

Finally starting to watch EP5. I can say the time jumps are way too unannounced. If had 0 background with this series (so yay for Witcher 3) I'd be struggling. A title card or something to announce a date and the location would be all it would take.

Some of this stuff feels like if you were reading the book and than all of the sudden skipped 10 pages once in a while and you're like wtf how did we get here?

The show definitely needs more exposition for most people. I'm enjoying it a lot but I also don't mind googling shit while watching because I hear terms that sound vaguely familiar.

Done. I'm not really a show watcher and I haven't binged watched anything since weebo anime stuff forever ago. Anyway, I loved it. Fights are great, I liked the characters (Geralt, Yen, Ciri and Dandelion esp. That bard still made me chuckle), the setting feels right, music wasn't amazing but it didn't distract. I guess there are "shoulda, woulda, couldas" I could go into but eh. It was nice to watch a show based off a book and not be overly critical of it (which is a curse of mine). Also on last ep

Thank God Geralt and Ciri met up. If I had to wait a year for season 2 for that shit I would have raged. I almost went mad with anticipation for that moment in Witcher 3

Virgin to all this, and after watching it all, I guess I'd probably call it okay. Definitely some pacing and/or priority of perspective issues going on. May be one of those shows that's better binged when it's finished completely.

Finished too. I'm being probably overly critical because I want the show to succeed, I see potential here but we'll see how it plays out with general audience. I guess they got greenlit for season 2 so hopefully they flesh it out.
I'm not sure why they wanted to rush through first two books this fast. The end of the season ends exactly where the second collection of short stories ends but now that they up to actual novels it may help them focus.

I have not read the books, I am liking it so far. All complaints aside about pacing the show is very engaging. The time jumps are not that hard to see if you are paying attention.

Another one who’s just finished it. When they started showing the time jumps everything started making sense sequentially, at least now everything has caught up.

Anyway, I enjoyed it, will be back for next season.

Ps. the only knowledge I have about the Witcher is from Witcher 3, but I managed to follow along fairly well. Some storylines came out of nowhere (looking at you Yennefer) but all in all it held my attention.

One thing I wish they would've done is adapt the forest story with Geralt and Ciri like in the books, it's what made end of book 2 great

Finished it. Really really fuckin enjoyed it. I’ve only played the games but didn’t find it hard to follow along.

The timeline was easy to keep up with.

Loved that episode 3 was basically the cinematic intro to witcher 1. Even included the silver knuckles punch. That shit ruled.

My only complaints are that the Geralt and Yen connection felt really rushed. Episode 6 had all of this “i can’t escape you” stuff, but to the viewer it’s like, “guys you’ve only hung out once before”.

Not in love with the Triss casting.

Ive had Witcher 3 since release and never played more than tutorial. I have upgrade to 2080ti ftw3 /1440p 165 since. Maybe I should give it another go.
