The 1st season was an ode to one of the Witcher short story compilation books with Geralt having random adventures culminating with meeting Ciri...the 2nd and 3rd season are like 15-20% of the books and the rest is batshit insanity the writers made up. That 20% is characters having the same names, or being in similar places and TECHNICALLY the story flow following the books but yeah do yourself a favor and get the books on audio and listen to them because they are 1000x better then the show.
